Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried.

There may be feeding breaks, diaper changes, cuddles, rocking, and plenty of time for your baby to settle comfortably.

That is not time lost from the session. It is part of the session.

My O’Fallon newborn studio is designed around the reality of life with a brand-new baby, so there is never an expectation that everything needs to happen on a strict schedule.

You can settle in. We’ll move at your baby’s pace.

Choosing what to wear should not be the most stressful part of planning maternity portraits.

My O’Fallon studio includes a carefully selected client wardrobe with pieces chosen specifically for how they photograph, soft fabrics, beautiful movement, flattering silhouettes, and options ranging from understated to dramatic.

Before your session, we’ll choose what works best for you, the setting, and the overall feel you want for your portraits.

You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly styled wardrobe already figured out. That is part of what I’m here to help with.

There is more flexibility in newborn photography than many parents realize.

I typically recommend photographing newborns within the first three weeks, when babies are still especially tiny and naturally curled.

But every baby is different. Some are sleepier, some prefer being wrapped, and some simply need a little more time and patience.

The session is always shaped around the baby in front of me rather than a rigid timeline or checklist.

Save this if you’re planning newborn portraits during those very full first weeks.

You are not expected to know how to pose for maternity portraits.

Since 2018, I’ve photographed women with every level of comfort in front of the camera, and thoughtful direction is always part of the experience.

I’m paying attention to posture, hands, movement, expression, light, and all of the small adjustments that make a portrait feel polished without looking overly posed.

Your job is simply to be present. I’ll guide the rest.

There is a beautiful window for maternity portraits before those final weeks of pregnancy.

For most of my St. Louis maternity clients, I recommend scheduling the session around 28–34 weeks. Your bump is beautifully defined, while you’re typically still comfortable enough to move, change looks, and enjoy the experience.

We’ll plan wardrobe, styling, hair and makeup, and whether your session feels most like you in the studio or outdoors.

You don’t need to know what photographs well or how to pose. That guidance is part of the experience from beginning to end.

Save this for later if maternity portraits are part of your plans.
