Bad Water Basin: where the ground is saltier than a Twitter thread and crunchier than my knees after the hike to get out there.

Golden hour came through with a masterpiece—clouds glowing, salt formations sparkling, and me, just standing there wondering if I should’ve worn another layer. Turns out, the desert can be cold… really cold. Who knew? (Literally everyone, but let me have my moment.)

10/10 would recommend, just maybe bring long johns and resist the urge to taste the floor. Actually, I tasted it!

In the heart of Valley of Fire State Park, where the earth blazes red and the sun shows no mercy, this little cactus thrives—unbothered, unapologetic, and probably a little prickly about personal space.

There’s something poetic about how it stands resilient against the elements, blending seamlessly into the landscape yet refusing to be overlooked. Maybe we should take notes:

Stand tall, even when the heat is on.

Adapt to your surroundings but never lose your edge.

Protect your peace (and if necessary, have a few sharp comebacks).

In the heart of Valley of Fire State Park, where the earth blazes red and the sun shows no mercy, this little cactus thrives—unbothered, unapologetic, and probably a little prickly about personal space.

Visited Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada this past week and managed to capture this shot right before we were kicked out at sunset. Apparently, the park closes then… but why? No urban legends that I could find, but I have questions. What lurks in the shadows that the rangers don’t want us to see? Ancient spirits? A secret government experiment gone wrong? Or maybe just the terrifying result of yet another round of budget cuts? Either way, beautiful view. Hope the thing that does come out after dark doesn’t rely on federal funding to survive.
