When your Mom’s a photographer but she forgets to offer client mini sessions at the tulip farm this year, so she drags you there instead 🙄🫣🌷

Actually, Sean Anderson and I had a pretty fun time with the tulips earlier this week. We bought our tickets the same day and hopped in the car after school. The farm is close (less than 20 minutes from our home) and the process of purchasing tickets, parking, and checking in was seamless. Seany was a bit bored and over the tulips after about 25 mins, but it was still enough time to snap some photos and pick our 10 flowers.

If you’re in the area, I would highly recommend heading to the tulip farm with your family. If you’d like some tips about what to expect when you get there, drop me a DM and I’d be more than happy to answer any questions!

Up way past my bedtime, but I couldn’t let the day end without sharing this very exciting moment for our son!! Sean Anderson was recognized at his school today as one of the STUDENTS OF THE MONTH for his respect, kindness to others, courteousness, and safety skills! He had no idea he was being awarded and was very excited to see me, Philip, and Pop Pop in the crowd for the assembly. Seany has been working SO hard at school, especially these last few month, and we can’t say enough how proud we are of this little guy! We know this is the first of many awards he will earn. A very special thank you to each and every teacher who has worked with and supported Seany (and us!) from Day 1 as we navigate his Autism Spectrum diagnosis, IEPs, PPTs, and all the alphabet soup! We love and cherish each and every one of you. And lots of love to all of our friends and family who always treat our son with so much respect, kindness, and inclusion. We took tons of photos and video (would you really expect anything less from us 🙄😆) but we’ll post those later. GREAT JOB MR. PICKLES!!

Honored and humbled to be featured in this week‘s edition of The Day] 📰 We were interviewed by Ericia Moser and photographed by Sean D. Elliot last month at our home in Norwich, and it was such a fun experience. Ericia and Sean are incredibly talented and genuinely kind, and despite my nervous fan-girl moments (I follow both of their work for the paper), they made us feel very much at ease. We’re incredibly proud of the photography business we’ve built and absolutely love the families who trust us with their precious memories, year after year. Thank you Ericia, Sean, Lee Howard (EIC), and The Day] for highlighting our small business!

Thank you Philip for taking my annual birthday photo. I didn’t want to get out of my pjs today (and I honestly I didn’t for a good 10 hours) but I’m glad Philip encouraged me to take my portraits. And THANK YOU to everyone for the sweet birthday wishes ♥️ oh, and shout out to for the delicious birthday dinner! No photos of our jerk chicken meals, only because we were so hungry 😋 If you’re in definitely check them out!!

Sometimes the best images come way before the photo session even starts 🥰 While we were waiting for the rest of the family to arrive at the park (this was a sweet, multi-generational portrait session with 9 people) we captured some fun moments between father and son. We always remind our clients- yes, we’ll capture traditional, posed shots, but we also capture the fun, candid moments that make you the loving family that you are! And we make sure your kids have fun while doing it!

We absolutely love when clients incorporate things that are truly meaningful to them into their portrait sessions! This past weekend we had the honor of celebrating Diwali with one of our favorite families 🪔 and we were so grateful to be included and to learn more about this beautiful holiday ✨

My little buddy Zayne here starts Kindergarten tomorrow 📚💙

I met Zayne a few months ago at the doctor’s office. We were both waiting to be seen when he quietly approached me, flashed me his sweet smile, and we instantly became buddies.

I struck up a great conversation with his mom Jen and we also became good friends. It’s not always easy to make new friends as an adult, especially as a parent with special needs kiddos, but the stars truly aligned when I met Jen (we often refer to Zayne as our match-maker). She’s an amazing woman, a wonderful Mom, and a very thoughtful (and hilarious!) friend 👯‍♀️

Jen and I have been texting each other the last couple of days, making sure the other is prepared for the start of the school year (Sean Anderson is also beginning Kindergarten, but at a different school). The snacks are on deck, the backpacks are packed, but neither of us is emotionally ready to send our little babies off to big boy school 😭 We know they’ll be fine and will do amazing things, but it’s still a little rough for us Mamas (and Dads)🥺

So, here’s to wishing all of the students a fun, successful, and SAFE school year, whether it’s their first day of preschool, kindergarten, or even college. Thank you to the teachers, administrators, and all the school staff; we greatly appreciate everything you do! And to the parents who are still trying to process this latest transition, we see you and hold a special place in our hearts for you. And if necessary, we’ll be holding a glass of wine for you too 🍷😆
