As I plan this little man’s milestone session, I realized I never shared his cozy in-home newborn photos.

Newborn sessions are yes about the birth of your baby, but even more so, the quiet rebirth of you as a mother. The transition from one child to two. The stretching of your heart in ways you did not know were possible.

I first met her when she was a mother of one, soaking in the final days of her breastfeeding journey, holding her first baby close. Now I watch her witness him looking so grown, stepping into his new role as big brother. Proud. Excited. Full of joy. Yet still needing to be her number one.

Everyone says it happens overnight. One day they are your baby, the next they seem older, braver, bigger. It is a gentle and beautiful balance, making space for the newborn while still honoring the child who made you a mother first.

This is what an in-home lifestyle newborn session is about. Not perfection. Not poses. But documenting the quiet shifts, the tender glances, the emotions that deserve to be remembered.

Sessions should be FUN.  (Yes, I said it.)
My take on the infamous Summer House quote, “Summer should be FUN”.

Somewhere along the way, you were told that family photo sessions are stressful. Kids won’t cooperate and that everything has to look perfect.

But here’s the truth. Perfection isn’t the goal.
Real life isn’t perfect.
Your photos shouldn’t feel like an unrealistic version of your family.

When mothers let go of control and allow their children to simply be,
to play, to move, to laugh, to get dirty, to have FUN
something beautiful happens.

Your stress softens. Your children’s personality comes out.
The connection deepens. The moments become real.

My advice? Let your kids have FUN.

The Hoffmans - Year 2025

Today feels like the true beginning of the new year. The kids went back to school, we returned to work, and life is settling into its rhythm again.

But before rushing ahead with our resolutions for 2026, I want to pause and honor what matters most—my people. The ones who keep me grounded and push me every day to be better. This past year came with the bittersweet realization that I no longer have a baby, but the adventures, conversations, and joy we share as a family now are so special.

These moments, this season of life—real, unposed, and full of love—are the memories I’ll hold onto forever 🤍
