I think people assume photography is just about taking pictures.

But for me, it’s always been about preserving emotion before it disappears.

The look someone gives the person they love when they think nobody’s watching.
The nostalgia hidden in ordinary moments.
The feeling attached to a memory years before people realize how important it was.

That’s why this competition has become so emotional for me.

Because for the first time in a long time, it feels like the work I quietly poured pieces of myself into is actually reaching people.

Today is the final day for voting to get me in the top 20! (I’m currently 25th)

Which feels dramatic considering this started with me casually thinking:
“haha maybe I’ll apply.”

And now here I am emotionally fighting for Top 20 in Johnny Depp Presents: The People’s Artist like my life depends on it. 😭🖤

But honestly… this experience reminded me how vulnerable art really is.

Creating is weird. You spend years quietly pouring emotion, memory, humanity, nostalgia, and pieces of yourself into your work while constantly wondering:
“does any of this actually matter to people?”

This week, you guys answered that question for me.

And regardless of what happens tonight at 9PM CST, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully explain how much that means to me.

I fear I may have accidentally become emotionally attached to an online art competition. 😭🖤

But genuinely… tomorrow at 9pm CST voting closes for Johnny Depp Presents: The People’s Artist and I am currently fighting for Top 20.

Which means this is the part where I dramatically stare at my ceiling at 2 AM wondering if enough strangers on the internet believe in my emotionally cinematic photography career dreams.
