On the final day of the year, I reflect on all the images I made and all the amazing people with whom I worked. This year one of the sessions that especially had my heart was this senior session with my amazing niece. She is an incredible person, smart and talented and so deeply, inspiringly kind. Being her aunt is one of my favorite things in life, and I’m SO proud of her.

Gemma, I love you so much and am so grateful to get to be in your corner for whatever comes next, and all the next things after that.

I’m pleased and honored to have another of my images featured in a collection by The Click Community. I have gotten to photograph Karissa several times now, and she is a dream in front of the camera, soulful and beautiful. She’s also kind and smart and sweet. It is a joy to get to interpret those qualities in my portraits of her.

Sydney is an amazing senior. She is smart, talented, friendly, and the kind of confident that also puts the people around her at ease. She is also my niece’s lifelong bestie, and I’ve seen the two of them perform in some of the best high school theatre that anyone has done anywhere, ever. It was a joy make these images for her. ❤️

Robin wanted graffiti for their senior session, and we found just the place. This train tunnel is cold and damp and a little creepy and very, very cool, and we all had an absolute ball making these portraits. Not every senior wants a field full of flowers, and we are THERE for that. Here’s to kids who know what they’re about. We’re proud to help them show it.

I loved this beautiful family. Even now that my children are grown, I remember the joy and chaos of their little selves like it all JUST happened, and it’s such fun to get to hang out for awhile with a young family. I know how little they’ve slept in these years, how crazy things get, how much having little people is like setting off a bomb in your previously much calmer life. But I also know what it’s like to look at a tiny human and to be completely blown away by how much it is possible to love them, to feel every one of their developmental milestones deep in your bones, and to worry— already— about how you will possibly still breathe when they grow up. Photographing a family with young children is to relive all of that, and to celebrate it. I know how fast it goes. I understand exactly why they want to find a way to keep it. I did, too.

And COME ON, that third pic might be one of my favorites of all time. Little miss told me EXACTLY where I could shove my camera. 😆❤️😆❤️😆❤️

Well, this session shows you what it’s like when a piece of my own heart walks right into senior year like it wasn’t just yesterday that I surprised her tiny self with an ice cream run at bedtime. This is my beautiful niece, Gemma, and I want to be just like her when I grow up. I have been proud of her her entire life, and I don’t expect that to ever change. Gemma, however far you go, whatever you ever do, I will be here cheering, and I will always buy you ice cream.

(We did another whole session in a knockout dress, too; you can believe I’ll be sharing those as well.)

We absolutely loved Caroline and Tyler’s beautiful late summer wedding. From their amazing families and loving and hilarious friends to every gorgeous detail at their reception, every moment was one to remember.

They also had a marvelous caterer ()and a DJ () who kept everyone on the dance floor all night long! had the warmest, loveliest staff and exquisite attention to every detail. It’s always a joy to work with other vendors who love their work as much as we love ours.

Caroline and Tyler, we wish you every happiness in your long and beautiful lives together.

One of the joys of senior portraits for me is learning who each senior is-- their style, their vibe, their best self-- and then designing a session that shows them as they truly are. I loved loved loved this senior session with Aidan. These images are the real HIM, and I'm honestly not sure which of us had more fun. The class of 2026 is killing it.

People are often surprised at what we create when we’re on location. What we see when we look at something may surprise you. When I look around the world, I’m scanning not just for how it looks in the moment, but also for how I would photograph it. The behind the scenes stuff is often SO different from what I have in my mind and what I am working to create.

This image was made during the Epiphany workshop one year ago today, and is one of my favorite images from 2024. Our gorgeous model was a dream to work with, and the chance that day to let our creative selves out to play was truly a gift.

For this image, I shot through our instructor’s lace poncho to create a sense of smoke and fog and to capture the light as the subject looked over her shoulder. I love the story of the image, of the possibility to see clearly and to see the light ahead that’s there for all of us even in our foggiest moments. Take a look at the behind the scenes snapshot. Would you have thought this is the image I was creating?

What would it be like to see your most beautiful self? That’s what I see when I look at you through my lens. That’s what I want you to see when we go through your finished images. That’s what I want you to keep when your printed portraits are in your home.

There’s nothing more timeless than love… and nothing more unforgettable than joy. 💍✨

This wedding had FLOWER FELLAS (!!!) who stole the show, kicking off the day with laughter, energy, and heart. These are the kinds of moments that make a wedding not just beautiful, but truly alive.

Though we usually photograph weddings under my brand (always as a team!), this one was extra special—dear friends who invited us to celebrate and capture their day. My partner Andy Weigl Photography took the lead, and I was so happy to jump in. What a gift to be a part of such joy and hilarity all in one celebration. 💕

Oh, how I adore this girl. She has the biggest heart and such intelligence and passion. I get to photograph her again next week, so you’ll see her again, but even better, I get to love her and her beautiful family like pie. You’re going places, Rett. I’ll be cheering from here.
