What if you could hold onto this season a little longer? Somehow it all goes by so fast. Someday soon, it will be different. Growing families, marriages, and kids. Job changes, and moves, hard seasons and really good ones. A little more gray hair, or a new baby.

And someday, you’ll have these photos as a tangible reminder of these sweet days, or say “look what the Lord has done since then!”

As a celebration for this new chapter of Mustard Seed Stories, I am so excited to give one family or couple a mini session!

Unhurried. Honest. Made to outlive the moment.

This has always been the heart of my business.

When I started photography in 2014 as a completely clueless newbie, I fell in love with two things: documentary-style family photography and classic portraits that would stand the test of time.

My hope was—and still is—to marry the two. To guide you through sessions that feel comfortable and easy, while creating timeless photographs that feel like you.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I was a bit of an oddball in this industry. 😂

So many photographers I know and love are louder, energetic, expressive, and wonderfully extroverted. And I am…not. 😂

For a long time, I thought I needed to be more energetic, more outgoing, more something…if I was going to “really do this.”

Then earlier this year, I took a strengths class at my church, and it changed everything. I learned a lot about myself, and what it looks like to steward the gifts He’s already given me.

So I switched gears.

I stopped trying to make my business louder and started leaning into what was already there: calm, thoughtfulness, observation, and intention.

This spring, a sweet bride told me I was a calming presence on her wedding day—just what she needed.

And I realized…maybe I don’t need to be the loudest person in the room.

Maybe I’m meant to be the steady one.

The one who notices the little things. Who helps you feel comfortable. Who gives you space to be present while I quietly document what you’ll one day wish you could remember exactly as it was.

I’m so grateful this is my job.

To photograph your best day ever, the little seasons that aren’t really so little, the growth and the changes, and the people and moments you never want to forget.

Summer has been packed with the most beautiful sunshiney sessions, meeting lots of new families and couples, getting to work with lots and lots of repeat friends, and seeing the Lord work through every nook and cranny of my business. It’s been the best! Fall? It’s going to be amazing too. Let’s do this!

There’s something a little sacred about this season of expecting a new baby. She’s already a momma, even though her baby isn’t yet in her arms. She knows him, and he knows her. She has a look in her eyes that I can’t quite explain but I know it well…patience and joy and calm and waiting, trusting. Not comfort, but working hard, always. Carrying and caring for and loving this new life before anyone else can. What a joy and privilege to capture this miracle of a season 🫶🏻
