🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 I have never cared to proclaim “Happy” Memorial Day- mainly because I know that if it was my loved one whom had been lost during active duty, I would be anything but “happy.” What I am happy about however is my freedom, my liberty- my ability to just exist in a free country. And for that, I thank all the brave men and women (past and present) who are willing to put their lives on the line for those very rights so many take for granted. And to those gold star families, I honor you today as well. The selfless gift of sacrifice often leaves mothers without their children, wives without their husbands, children without fathers, sisters without brothers and vice versa.
I thought it was only fitting I share this little cutie today ❤️🤍💙 Mama brought in some pretty special items from her grandfathers time in the service. Talk about sentimental yall 🥺

When I say I’m doing my best yall, I really do mean that 💜 I had several clients expecting their galleries this week but right on cue the universe had other plans and I ended up being sent to the hospital due to a blood clot. I wanna prefix this by saying im okay, I was able to come home where I will do my treatment to get rid of it. Part of that treatment unfortunately is spending minimal amounts of time sitting at my computer. The best postion while healing from a blood clot without dislodging is in a prone position with the affected area elevated (in my case it’s my leg 😑). It’s definitely been an eye opening experience none the less, and it’s made me realize that what I’ve been doing lately is simply just not working. I have communicated extensively with yall regarding my current workload and the extended turn around time but I promise it doesn’t make me feel any less crappy when something happens that prolongs that wait. And that’s where I need to change. It’s because I am horrified of upsetting a client or letting anyone down that I am in this position in the first place (and that is 100% MY OWN fault). Because when I do get the opportunity to sit and edit I will more often than not sit there until I literally drop. And Tuesday afternoon after I jolted myself back awake after falling asleep at my desk, I noticed my leg from the knee down had swollen twice its size. I will admit it was a pretty alarming sight to wake up to. But I am grateful for the path of healing that I am on and that I know I will be okay.
But moving forward, yall I simply can only do what I can do and i need to not be made to feel as if i have to apologize for that. And for the most part my clients are super understanding and graceful towards me. But I do receive some attitude here and there as well. And i just hope that those folks please remember in the future that we are all human, and we can only do so much as a singular being. I won’t always be behind in editing as my turn around typically fluctuates throughout the seasons anyway. But in those times where you’re waiting a few extra weeks, just know I am still doing my best, and that’s literally all I can do. I am also a wife and a mother. I can no longer continue neglecting my own basic needs or those of my family just for the sake of getting things done; and i will NEVER rush through a gallery and jeoperdize the quality of my client’s memories just to get them out the door 🫶💜

So I actually shot this session in November over the Thanksgiving holiday (hence the Christmas Jammies) but I couldn’t just not ever share these photos 🥺 Mom is a total rock star and often works out of state and sometimes even out of the country so we had a very small window of opportunity for this session. Needless to say I was so glad we were able to work it out for them 💜📸 This whole family is just absolutely precious!!

✨✨DID YOU KNOW that we now have an adorable, locally owned and operated play place right in the heart of downtown North Vernon? If the answer to that question is no, you’ll definitely want to continue reading this post for more info! Mini & Me is a large, indoor play area with something exciting and interactive at every turn! Its center focus is on enriching children’s development through interactive play and imagination. Placed along the outer walls you will find many different themed play areas and houses such as a cafe, construction zone, school house, etc. There are sections thoughtfully curated for various ages such as a large portion in the back that is now gated off for the younger toddlers and babies to safely play in a secure space. Theres also a secluded “sensory” room separate from the main room for those sensory seeking kiddos or for those who may just need to step away from the main area for a moment to just decompress. Now thats something you dont find everyday! These photos were taken several weeks ago so i do know alot has been added around the building since then as well as a gate up front preventing the kiddos from easily accessing the main entrance. Im sure more changes are to come as well! When I first met Shelby several years ago, I vividly remember her expressing her desire for our town to have something more interactive for parents and children to do together. This became a topic of discussion at nearly every session following this as well and i could see the passion growing with each conversation we had. Needless to say i was so dang proud and excited when i learned she had finially found a building to make her dreams come true in! I’m telling you right now, if anyone in this town cares about the development and enrichment for the children in our community it’s this woman right here! For those who aren’t familiar with Shelby, she also runs the non-profit Giving Grace (will also tag that page). Giving Grace has the sole mission of helping to ease the financial burden of local families by eliminating student lunch debt. I mean come on, can you think of a more pure, heartfelt mission 🥺 This post ended up a little longer than I had originally intended, but I couldn’t not brag on this incredible woman just a little bit atleast! I am so proud to not just know Shelby, but to also call her my friend. And if you’re led to do anything with the kiddos this week, (esp with this crap weather) let it be to stop in and visit Mini & Me and spend some time enriching their mental development through playtime 🫶💜

Good early afternoon my wonderful peoples 😘 hopefully everyone had a wonderful weekend! My husband and i had our annual anniversary trip over the weekend (much needed if you ask me 😅) So if you are awaiting a response of any kind from me please bear with me as I work through the backlog of messages and emails from being out of communication for a few days. I have alot going on today but I will get to everyone whilst I tend to my other obligations throughout the day.
For those of you so graciously and patiently waiting on your galleries- THANK YOU again and again. As a business owner, getting caught up while still having to actively keep my business alive and carry out my everyday duties as a wife and mother, is no easy undertaking. And while the process as a whole has proven to be more time consuming than I had anticipated, I am just forever grateful to have compassionate clients who understand that I am human also and there’s only so much one can do at a time.
