Some unsolicited wisdom today; something that took me probably too long to realize.

"Missing Pieces"

Life is a puzzle. The puzzle that makes up who we are as a person. The pieces, both voluntary and involuntary. And always is a missing piece. Whether you are single, waiting for your life partner. Or in a job, waiting on a career. Or in an apartment, waiting for that house someday, somehow. Then someday you may feel like you have all those pieces you had obsessed about for all those years.

But then you look around, and there are new missing pieces. Now you're older and they are the kind you can't necessarily work towards. They fall away from your picture because of the continuity of time and the inevitability of life.

I've personally spent too much time when I was younger obsessing over that "missing piece". Getting down about it. Thinking that there was something wrong with me, or I wasn't good enough to have all the pieces. Good enough to have a partner in life, and be loved. Or good enough to somehow own a house, and not rent.

But the pieces are not about being "good enough". We can't control what happens to us, only how we react to them.

No one gets it all right. Mistakes happen along the way. That image of perfection you try to work towards, is invaded by imperfections. As time goes on though, eventually you come to cherish those imperfections because they make you, who you are. So in the end, there are holes that will never be filled. And that's okay. It's important to learn to be okay with it. And allow the pieces yet to be created, drive your goals.

Have a great day -JC.

"Fair daffodils, we weep to see, you haste away so soon; And, having prayed together, we will go with you along and dry away, like to the summer's rain. or as the pearls of morning's dew" β€” Robert Herrick.
