I want to share this humorous photo separately because Lea will forever be ridiculous.

At the end of each run she would abandon the bags to run to the photographer (the awesome Charlotte With Dogs) before realizing "that's not my mom!" and then finding me.

People found it really funny but were very confused when Charlotte and I were talking about how she thought she was her mama before realizing she wasn't. Being unaware that I also shoot FastCAT at other events, people didn't realize she was used to her mama being on the ground in the catch pen and so automatically went for the lens before realizing I was standing on the other side off the catch pen.

A couple weeks ago I was at a FastCAT trial running both dogs and the fabulous Charlotte With Dogs was there to capture all the fun!

Both dogs ran fabulously -- Lea got her FCAT2. That took her 61 runs to get to (she's now had 64 runs).

Ben got 4 more runs toward her FCAT. His first run was under 10 seconds, which is pretty impressive for an old guy. He's now 5 runs from his FCAT and should get that in a month!

All that to say, look at the amazing photos, and GO BUY from her! We can't do this without your support. So even if you have a million photos, consider finding that one photo to commemorate the day. Every little bit adds up and helps support what we do. I KNOW the economy is tough right now, but supporting small businesses is so important in this economy!

Anyway, her photos can all be found here and there are SO many amazing ones. The light was beautiful the first day and the rainy photos are great fun!

Challenge #8 for Unleashed Education's Embark Challenge was "Front Runner." Dogs running straight at the camera. The key is capturing the right moment, a combintation of the right stride and the right expression.

As you can imagine, this is a challenge that was right up my alley. And I knew who I had to use for this one: Kyber, #5 All American, who runs over 33mph on average. I took a bit of a gamble here and went out just as the sun was coming up, shooting during the blue hour. It meant an extra challenge of an all black super speedy dog in pretty low light.

I am so pleased that my photo received a top 10 award. And I loved their comment on it: This dog, flying through the air, looks so cool, as if to say "levitation? It's no big deal!" That's definitely Kyber!

I have REALLY exciting news for the October Onondaga Kennel Association FastCAT trial.

You've been asking...now you're getting it!

This year, I have the AMAZING Charlotte With Dogs coming to shoot release photos for everyone! That's right -- there will be both release photos AND catch pen photos both days! You're not going to want to miss this one!

Challenge #7 for Unleashed Education was City Slicker. This took me quite a bit outside my comfort zone. For this one, we visited Crouse College on the SU campus. I opted for something a little bit quirky with a wide angle view of Kyber on the steps of the college looking out over the city.

I'm excited that it landed in the top 20!

Today is World Photography Day! So here's to all my amazing photographer friends, both professional and hobbiest alike. All those hours behind the camera, all the crawling in the mud, the laying on your belly in the heat and the rain, all the trying to stay dry in a downpour, and worrying about passing out when it's 95. Anything for the shot, right?

Here are some favorites I took of my own dogs and some friends' dogs at the FastCAT trial last weekend.
