Moonlight Rey & Sunshine Yoda—sweet babies! We have had them for 8 years now. They are nontraditional cats 🐈 🐈‍⬛ and litter mates.

Every day I make them pay “rent” by forcing them to cuddle with me. “Rent” also involves me kissing them each 10 times in a row. They tolerate me, but they would rather spend their time looking out the dining room window eyeing the neighborhood quails.

Sunshine prefers to loaf on my camera backpack. The consequence is that his fur completely covers the outside of my backpack and then gets all over my clothes, but it’s worth it. Look at that face! Those freckles especially 😍.

M A P L E the Basenji Shiba pup loves to be next to her favorite person and adores him.

She has the sweetest little face but don’t let those innocent eyes fool you; she is also capable of being so incredibly naughty! She gets in trouble almost every day of her life because Basenjis by nature are too smart for their own good. They often choose to selectively listen. We have lots of power struggles with her trying to get her to obey, BUT… we are slowly making progress. When she feels like it, she can be the sweetest and cuddliest dog. Her vest helps her be more calm; she struggles a bit with anxiety.

It’s amazing how much pets become part of our lives and how much we put up with their quirks. I suppose they put up with a lot of our human quirks too.

This beautiful lady is my mom! Can you believe that she will be turning 80 in July? .

She wanted some photos for a life story book that she has been working on through . She has worked incredibly hard on it, and she is just about to finish it!

If you haven’t in the past, I strongly encourage you to prioritize getting some photos taken of yourself at or near milestone ages. Some people might think they are too old to be in front of the camera, but this could not be further from the truth. There is so much beauty to be captured in every life phase.

I loved doing this photoshoot for my mom and I am grateful to have arrived at a place in my photographer journey that I am able to gift photos to loved ones who truly appreciate my skills and value the photos. Photography is much more rewarding for me that way even though doing it for money taught me a lot from the business side.

My dream??? Gift photo shoots to those who truly need them and could benefit from them the most. I would do that full time if I was independently wealthy! Maybe some day.

Next to be posted: a gorgeous bridal session. The beautiful couple almost got me to come out of retirement! It was so much fun. Photos coming soon!

Dance competition season for Pearl is in full swing! All stage photos taken by or (edited by me).

My thoughts about the season so far:

I have seen growth in since last year. Specifically, I have seen growth in: her confidence, her leg flexibility, her emotional expression, and her studio relationships (she loves her team and teachers).

As a parent, I have also seen some growth in myself. I used to believe that having my daughter be on the top team at any studio was the best opportunity for her to grow and be pushed. I have definitely changed my perspective on that.

I feel like Pearl is exactly where she needs to be at this time and place in her dance journey. This is because I trust that her teachers and studio owner have placed her where she can still be pushed while having more opportunities to shine. I have let go of the idea that growth can only occur at the top, and this mindset shift has resulted in one of the most enjoyable dance comp seasons I have experienced so far.

Huge thank you to for creating a positive environment that Pearl loves.
