Meet the 4” Imperial Moth caterpillar 🐛. Like many other caterpillars, it wears an armor of aggressive spikes, bristles, and fake eye spots - none of which are actually harmful, but a scare tactic to ward off potential predators. Adult Imperial Moths are pink & yellow & with 4-7” wingspan.

Yellow Springs, Ohio - the land of immaculate vibes. Had the privilege of meeting my idol, Dave Chappelle while down here. No pictures...just two people having a real human experience. Had the opportunity to tell him while the world sees him as a comedian, he’s so much more - a philosopher, a motivator, an intellectual, and a spirit that the world needs more of. And, one that Ohio is certainly blessed to have around.

One of my favorite things ever happened yesterday. A female hummingbird brought its BABY (fledgling) to our backyard. I was working from home & had the camera at arm's length! After years of striving to create a backyard habitat that wildlife could thrive in, to witness such a magical moment, AND be able to capture it means SO much!

The birds literally perched on an ironweed about eight ft away, one of many flowers I transplanted from a meadow nearby, which has been cleared to build a corporate center.

When the hills are alive and a bit of mist hangs in the valley, there may not be a better sunrise location than Pine Hollow in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Current conditions include peak wildflower bloom AND a gorgeous Swallow-tailed Kite (rare bird of prey from the southern US) on location - for several days.

‘Paradigm Shift’

Beached just off the coast in Port Clinton, OH - the sailboat ‘Paradigm’ has become internet-famous in recent weeks. I headed out mid-week, but met with wave-after-wave of rain. Was literally in the car pulling out to head home & noticed the tiniest sliver of clearing at the horizon. Waded out, waited, prayed…and this happened!!

Swallow-tailed Kite in Cuyahoga Valley National Park! This rare visitor from the southern US put on an absolute show hunting dragonflies on the wing above Pine Hollow, today. There are few birds more striking or graceful in existence…epic Ohio find by Ashley Mikulec.

The sailboat ‘Paradigm’ has been beached off Port Clinton for over a week. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime photo op! The community is sponsoring a volunteer all-hands-on-deck event to try & free it, this Saturday.
