"Atunbi" - An Unreal Engine 5.1 Animated Short
I'm excited to share a few frames from my latest Unreal Engine cinematic short, "Atunbi". It is inspired by a soon-to-be-released book and animated series called "Neo & Nubia” (www.neoandnubia.com) that I am currently working on with my partners and long time friends Obinna Onyeagoro and Chinwe Onyeagoro. "Atunbi", which is the Nigerian Yoruba word for "Born Again", explores the cultural and symbolic significance of animals in Africa.
This entire cinematic was produced in Unreal Engine 5.1. The assets were sourced from Quixel Megascans, UE Marketplace, Sketchfab and custom assets that I modeled directly inside of UE. In addition to real images, I used Midjourney to create more visually interesting references for both the environment as well as custom assets, including the temple known as the "Hall of Forever" and a special asset that will be revealed at the end of the short.
"Atunbi" is the culmination of all that I have learned in the portion of the CG Spectrum and course and I am immensely grateful for my mentor Gabriel Paiva Harwat and Simon Warwick's guidance during the course.
I also wrote and produced the soundtrack for this short film. It's a a fantatsical afrobeat driven piece that I attempted to marry with the weather elements of the cinematic. I compose with Ableton and use of host of soft instruments including Splice and Native Instruments' and .
The cinematic will be released shortly with a BTS video to follow.
