What a ride ✨
This week marks the 13 year anniversary of moving to San Diego, and I find myself wandering back in my mind. Attempting to remember who I thought I was going to become versus who I ended up becoming. The many versions of myself I’ve gone through since moving here that have amalgamated into who I am today.
When I arrived, I was still a teenager, which is an obvious hint to my maturity level (or lack thereof). The idea of being a functioning adult was terrifying, yet I always had a gut feeling my life would get better over time. I just had zero clue how to make that happen. It made me realize how much needed to go wrong in order for things to finally go right.
The failures that taught me the hardest lessons, the heartache of rejection that inevitably morphed into redirection, and the beauty that is exposed after letting s**t GO. I think back to every person who has contributed to my growth, whether it was through their support or spite. Not to say I don’t have some soul scars, self-inflicted or not, but there been a lot of love both given and received in the years that I’ve been here.
I have always struggled to trust in what’s next, but I’ve forced myself to do so in recent years. Trying to control things beyond my reach is a true waste of energy, especially when the things that truly need my attention deserve focus.
So I suppose this little letter is written to myself as well as this beautiful place that I call home.
Thank you, I love you, let’s keep going.
