The number one thing parents tell me before a session?

“I’m worried my kids won’t cooperate.”

And honestly? That’s usually the thing I worry about the least.

The best photos rarely come from perfectly behaved kids standing still and smiling at the camera. They come from giggles, cuddles, movement, and all the little in-between moments that make your family yours.

Your family doesn’t need to be perfect.

You just need to show up. 🤍

The baby isn’t the only one changing.

A little girl becomes a big sister.
A little boy learns to share his parents.
Two parents somehow find room in their hearts for even more love.

And somewhere between the diaper changes, the sleepless nights, and the chaos of adjusting to life as a family of four…

a new version of your family is born, too.

These are the moments you’ll want to remember. 🤍

One day they’ll be too heavy to carry.

Too busy to ask for “one more hug.”

Too grown up to run through the grass while you watch from the sidelines.

But today?

Today they still reach for your hand.
They still crawl into your lap.
They still think you’re the safest place in the world.

And that feels pretty magical. 🤍

Some of the tiniest moments become the ones we never want to forget.

The way they fit in your arms.
The sleepy stretches.
The newborn wrinkles.
The way you look at them when no one else is watching.

These days are fleeting, but the memories don’t have to be. 🤍

One day the house will be quieter.

The backpacks won’t be lined up by the door.
The little girl won’t reach for dad to carry her.
The boys won’t pile onto mom for one more hug.

But these moments matter because they’re happening right now.

Messy.
Loud.
Beautiful.

Exactly as they are. 🤍

Most parents show up to their newborn session worried about the same thing:

“What if my baby won’t cooperate?”

The truth? Babies are going to baby. 🤍

Over the years I’ve learned a few simple things that help newborn sessions go more smoothly, and I share these with every family before their session.

Save this post for later if you have a newborn session coming up—or send it to a friend who just had a baby.

And remember:

You’ve got the baby. I’ve got the rest. 🤍

The older my kids get, the more I realize that family photos aren’t really about what everyone looked like.

They’re about remembering what it felt like.

The way your son wrapped both arms around your waist.

The way your daughter reached for your hand without thinking.

The way everyone piled into a hug and laughed because nobody could quite fit.

Years from now, I don’t think we’ll miss the perfectly coordinated outfits or whether everyone’s hair behaved.

We’ll miss these versions of the people we love.

And that’s exactly why these photos matter. 🤍

Not long ago, the little girl in these photos was the baby.

The one everyone was passing around.
The one with the tiny fingers and sleepy newborn stretches.
The one whose parents couldn’t stop staring at her.

And now she’s a big sister.

Getting to photograph both of these sweet girls as newborns feels a little bit magical. A reminder that the days are long, but somehow the years move far too fast.

What a joy it has been to watch this family grow from three to four.

These sisters are already so lucky to have each other. 🤍

It started with two people.

A young couple who fell in love, built a life together, and had no idea just how many people would one day call them Mom, Dad, Abuelo, and Abuela.

Now there are children, grandchildren, and even another sweet baby on the way.

That’s what I love most about extended family sessions. They’re not really about the photos. They’re about documenting the people who made all of this possible.

The roots.
The legacy.
The love that keeps growing with every generation.

And somewhere in this gallery is one of my favorite photos ever—a quiet moment between Abuelo and Abuela that says more about their story than words ever could. 🤍

Some babies arrive and completely change the world for two people.

This sweet girl made her parents a mom and dad, and I don’t think either of them could have looked more in love.

The way they watched her.
The way they held her.
The way they smiled every time they looked down at her tiny face.

She was absolutely stunning for her session and slept like a dream, but my favorite part wasn’t the sleepy newborn poses—it was getting to witness the joy of two people stepping into parenthood.

What a lucky little girl to be loved this much. 🤍
