While I was editing this in-home newborn session and found myself thinking about how much Iā€™ve grown as a photographer in the area of trust.

Trusting a story to unfold naturally in front of me. Trusting the pauses, the chaos, the feeding breaks, the toddler interruptions, the unexpected moments. Learning when to gently guideā€¦ and when to simply step back and let a family be together.

Every newborn session feels completely different. Different rhythms, different emotions, different connections. I truly couldnā€™t recreate the story if I tried and honestly, I think thatā€™s what makes this work feel so meaningful to me.

Just this fleeting little season exactly as it was šŸ¤

Iā€™m still honestly trying to process the response to this yearā€™s fall calendar šŸ‚

The support, the messages of excitement and celebrationā€¦ it has completely blown me away.

As a small business owner (and honestly just as a human), thereā€™s something incredibly emotional about realizing so many families continue inviting me back into these moments year after year. Watching your babies grow up in front of my camera, documenting milestones, meeting new siblings, seeing familiar faces every fallā€¦ itā€™s something I never take for granted.

I wish I could fit every single person from the waitlist into my fall calendar immediately šŸ˜­ Truly. Iā€™m already looking over schedules, trying to find places I can squeeze in a few more sessions, and brainstorming some additional options for you guys because that will forever be who I am as a person!

I also have a few fun things planned for November, including Evergreen Sessions and I decided that my Fall waitlist families will absolutely get first dibs there.

I honestly donā€™t even have words for how grateful and blown away I feel right now. The amount of returning clients, referrals, shares, messages, and support this little business continues to receive means more to me than I could ever fully explain.

What an absolute honor it is to document your families season after season.

Since sessions filled much faster than I anticipated, Iā€™ll be creating a waitlist for:

Hi šŸ¤ Iā€™ve realized there are quite a few new faces around here lately, so I figured it might be time to reintroduce myself.

Iā€™m Shay, the human behind the camera at Shay Peck Photo Co. šŸ“ø

Iā€™m a motherhood, newborn, family, and storytelling photographer based in North Liberty, Iowa, and Iā€™m deeply passionate about documenting connection in a way that feels honest, emotional, playful, and beautifully real.

Before going full-time with my photography business, I spent 10 years teaching kindergarten and preschool, and I also hold a degree in special education. So much of the way I approach sessions , especially with children, comes from those years. Patience, flexibility, playfulness, connection, and understanding that every child experiences the world a little differently.

Outside of photography, Iā€™m a mom to four kiddos, Lincoln, Sullivan, Evie, & Hazel. One of my daughters, Evie, is in Heaven šŸ¤ and her life continues to inspire so much of what I do, including The Evieā€™s Wave Project.

Iā€™m also:
āœØ fueled heavily by iced tea
āœØ happiest outside hiking, camping, or exploring nature with my family
āœØ wildly sentimental about tiny everyday moments
āœØ neurodivergent and proud to share about my experiences
āœØ and very much still a child at heart

Which honestly might explain why I can usually win over toddlers by making weird noises, pretending leaves are treasures, or fully committing to the silliness during sessions šŸ˜‚

My photography style is relaxed, connection focused, and child-led. I care far less about perfect poses and much more about documenting the way your family feels in this season. I try to flow between giving you posing guidance to letting your family have authentic moments.

Watching my cousin become a dad and seeing these two settle into life with sweet little Tobias was such an honor to capture.

These early newborn days are blurry and beautiful all at once and Iā€™m so thankful I got to freeze a tiny piece of it for them āœØ
