Don't leave your camera in auto mode and assume it's reading your mind! My camera did not know I wanted my daughter in focus so I chose her as a focal point. I used spot metering to make sure she was properly exposed knowing the sunshine behind her would be blown out giving it a nice backlit sun ray look. You can get so much more out of your camera just by learning a few basic shooting skills.

I used to get so frustrated shooting in full sun, “This stupid pop up flash! Ugh!” When is a good time to use that flash? Ummmm...never! If you understand some basic concepts regarding the “exposure triangle” and how to measure light, your pop up flash will know its place (down)! We’ll cover this and so much more in my workshop! You’re limited in P mode but because you are smarter than your camera, your images will improve. Pick a focal point AND CHOOSE what you want to be IN FOCUS!
