Thank you to juror Michael Di Stefano for selecting my image “Montana Sky” for inclusion in the 2026 WAA Photography Exhibit, Behind the Lens, opening this evening at the Wickford Art Association. This photo was taken on a family trip to Montana after a long day of off-roading in UTVs. Just as we came down the mountain and crossed the dam, we could see the full moon had just started rising. The sky was a very soft pink, and it was reflecting in the water, giving it a very surreal look. I’m absolutely thrilled to see this image hanging in the gallery this evening at the opening.

Thank you to juror Michael Di Stefano for selecting my image “Falling” for inclusion in the 2026 WAA Photography Exhibit, Behind the Lens, opening this evening at the Wickford Art Association. I shot this image on an incredible trip to Tulum, Mexico organized by where we shot underwater images in the Cenotes. The model for this image is .diving who is just stunning with her ability to get lost in the posing. It was such an honor to work with her and I’m thrilled this image will be shown in the gallery for this exhibit.

This magical image of the talented underwater model was captured during photographer and model retreat last year in Tulum, Mexico. Haley is an amazing underwater model who makes posing look effortless. She’s wearing an inspired creation by that looked stunning and ethereal in the mottled light of the Cenotes. Sometimes when I look at this image, I can’t believe it’s real, but I can attest to the fact that this has minimal enhancements to the light, shadows, and dehazing of the water to bring out the contrast in the image. It’s like walking into a fairytale.

So incredibly honored that this image was selected to be included in the Wickford Art Association’s exhibit called “Shades of Blue”. The opening is this evening from 5 to 7 PM and the show will run through March 8. If you have a chance, please stop by the Wickford Art Gallery and check it out!

There will be a lot of talk about dreams, because I have one too. And for a really long time, I told myself it wasn’t realistic to believe that you could realize your dreams. I mean, sure, you can make goals and you can achieve objectives, but dreams are so much bigger than that. Because dreams are generally not based in reality. They are the fantasies that give us hope through the long years of hard work and the trials and tribulations of life. And we see people who achieve their dreams but often we don’t think that that can be us because there’s just something too surreal about that kind of thing actually happening. But now I am finding myself thinking maybe it’s possible. Maybe I too can cast side reality and grab a hold of my dreams. So we’ll see!

Sometimes you can see the vision before you even get the shot. It comes to you in the moment and demands to be created. Like an itch that must be scratched, you have to keep going until you get it exactly right. If you are really lucky, you are working with other creatives who match your passion and conviction for making the vision a reality. When that happens, something truly beautiful is born. One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end. ~ Jiddu Krishnamurri

I have spent the better part of my adult life afraid to break out of the path that I chose over 25 years ago. Despite the fact that I have known that I am not happy giving so much of my health and wellbeing just to have the security of a 9-5 corporate job. I started my photography and mermaiding businesses to try to channel all the joy that I get out of living the life imagined and it has worked wonderfully! But now I am faced with the fact that I can’t continue lying to myself and to others, pretending that it’s enough for me to dabble in this space when I want nothing more than to immerse myself in this existence entirely. But what lies ahead creates so many unknowns that it’s absolutely terrifying to think about moving forward without the security that comes from a dependable, predictable paycheck. I deeply fear that world that I do not know, one where I have to rely 100% on my talent and creativity to sustain me. I’m not there yet, but the pull is undeniable and gets stronger every day.

What is the known out there that you’re afraid of coming to an end? Is it holding you back from realizing true joy in your life? Would you take the leap if someone was able to show you the way?

Your physical presence, voice, and personal truth emanate from within, and no one can compel you to diminish your radiance, even if it discomforts others. If they are unable to handle the magnificence that is you, they are free to look away.
