I have been eyeing up these round bales in the field for the last week or so when I drive by on my way to work. I thought it would make a nice picture and I knew it would take an evening sunset to complete the scene. Tonight was the night, and I almost missed it! The world is complicated enough and sometimes a peaceful scene like this can make you pause for a moment and appreciate the world around you. I hope you enjoy the simple things as much as I do.

I’ve had this on my schedule for quite some time to experience. The Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 train coming through our area. What a thrill it was to see the train and so many people, even an Amish family, all enjoying something as simple as a steam locomotive, well, a really big steam locomotive!

To me it’s more than just a train, but it’s a nod, and a desire for a more simple life. To earlier times and a different way of life. Maybe something we should give thought to and find ways to bring the “simple” into our daily lives. I love everything about this event. However, due to numerous things, I didn’t think I was going to be able to see it this week. Yet, today everything lined up so I had just enough time to get to a crossing point in Barcelona, New York. It was definitely worth seeing :-)

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit and photograph several waterfall locations in the Finger Lakes area of New York. So many wonderful locations out there to appreciate, and most of them are free and only require a little bit of effort. Life is easier when you look for the good 😊
