Yesterday, I went out to Shore Acres to capture some large waves rolling in. There was a high surf alert reporting 22-27ft waves, and there was a show going on (without rain too!). It felt very cathartic to watch those powerful waves surging in and crashing against the beautiful coastline! I could feel their vibrations in my knees, hear the loud crack of water hitting water, or hitting rock. I found the experience to be very liberating as I could project my built up angst of upcoming events onto these waves and see them explode with the passion I am holding onto! I hope that you, too, can find peace and comfort as I did in these beautiful waves! ♡

Last night was another incredible night for northern lights! These photos are all long exposures lasting for 20-25 seconds and have had some adjustments as far as saturation and light balances, but the colors are authentic to what my camera picked up.

The last photo is a demonstration of what the northern lights looked like to my naked eye toward the end of the night around 12-1AM. The colors are often muted, or even like a haze on the horizon. The columns, when they are moving are often the most notable feature! They look like a white vertical column moving across the horizon. It is still pretty fascinating!

After predicting northern lights from Friday night through the weekend, they finally arrived on the Oregon coast on Monday night! The northern lights started as a gentle glow, but around 10 pm, someone flipped the switch, and with the naked eye, I could see white columns moving across the sky and a pink faint glow in the sky. The big dipper shone clearly in the sky and can distinctly be seen in many of these photos! The Draconid meteor shower was also reportedly at its peak last night, so there are a couple meteors in these phot, s too!

These photos have minor light adjustments and a saturation boost, but otherwise, the colors are as they came out of my camera following a 20-25 second exposure.

Here is a sneak peek of the fun I had tonight here on the Oregon coast! The northern lights were glowing faintly early on, but around 10 PM, someone turned on that light switch! I love how in this photo you can also see the big dipper quite clearly through the northern lights, PLUS tonight was the estimated peak of the Draconid meteor shower! I saw at least a dozen meteors! It was a special night, for sure!
