Good Morning Friends and Family,
Just an update (read: wall of text) into the process of getting the pictures out to you all. I'm extremely grateful for your patience as I work through the backlog from the end of the Marching Band season. As much as I want to, I'm not going to 6A and add more to the unfinished pile, because I'd like to finish pictures sometime this year π€£. Seriously though, I came back from 1A with over 4000 images and 36 Videos. I was able to get the videos out and the pictures of preliminaries done before the weekend, but then I went and got 7000 images and 36 more videos for 4A. I finished all the 4A videos so everyone can enjoy those right away, as well as I'll be releasing this year's backlog very shortly. Premiers are starting tomorrow - Check my YouTube!
Whew. π²
For 1A, I tried to be precise and get a higher ratio of glorious pictures to above-average pictures. I sat in a spot where I usually sit at the 40, and then swapped sides for finals and I think that I succeeded! I'm super happy with the outcome, at least 20 awesome shots per performance (most bands have more than that)! I think a 1:4 ratio
For 4A, I sat a little lower than I usually do, because I wanted to test a theory based on the build of the stadium. I was closer to the action, still up high enough to get the back of the field, but low enough that the pictures increased the Depth Of Field; I wanted a little more of an artsy style while still getting all of the band members. As I sat there looking through my lens, IT WAS ALL GLORIOUS! so I went into overdrive and hammered that shutter. Oops. My glorious/average ratio will still be higher than it was in previous years. 1:6 maybe? It used to be 1:10.
I can't wait to process these pics, both finishing 1A, and starting 4A. I've really tried hard to concentrate on color and lighting correctness, making them brighter and more accurate in color and lighting range while keeping my personal touch. As I process, I always ask myself for each picture, would Kristie and my kids be proud of this picture? It's the only way that I'll process it. I'll never Chip-Dump; the Band Members, Staff, and Parents work too hard to just give out regular shots.
Anyway, If you like the pictures enough, please consider purchasing a keepsake print from my website in 8x10 or other variants, they are around $20. It'll never be a requirement, but it helps me offset some of the cost for the season. For local people to the CSRA, I am planning on doing Santa Pictures at Langley Pond's "A Langley Pond Christmas" for free, digitals free to download as always, and prints will be available...etc... Portrait sessions are available, just reach out to me. I'm trying to do more sales, but don't want to be pushy about it, π€£ Where's that balance?
