Castle Hill on Crane Estate engagement sessions: one photographer, five couples, one location ✨

Crane Estate is one of my favorite places to photograph engagement sessions. It is so dreamy, looks straight out of a fairytale, and feels like Tuscany but in Ipswich, MA.

I’ve photographed here five times now and each session was different. No matter how many times I go to a location, I challenge myself to find new angles, new little corners, and truly capture the couple with their essence, rather than copying and pasting the same poses and prompts on every couple.

I hope to keep going back here because I truly so magical🥹 I just had to share how different each session was!

The Spoffords 💛🌸🌊🥂

These two couldn’t have asked for a better mid-August wedding day in Kennebunkport and Wells Maine 😍

It felt like true New England summer along the sea coast. Courtney & Will had their wedding ceremony at a location extremely special to Will & his family, with generations before him also getting married here.

And they rented the cutest butter yellow vintage car to add some flair to the day. After their ceremony, they took a private lap around Kennebunkport before easing back into the buzz of the day. Then, after family portraits were done, we drove to the coast for photos just the two of them 🥹

The word that comes to mind when looking back on this day is warm. Not because it is summer and the sun was out. But because of the energy these two share with each other and everyone around them. They’re such sweethearts and so so lovely 🥹 butter yellow really does represent their energy!

Ladies & Gentlemen, The Chartiers! 💜🌹💕

The words that come to mind for this wedding day: Romantic, whimsical & intimate. H designed their wedding day with a color palette filled with purples, deep reds, and pinks, and a reception space flooded with candlelight. H+C were surrounded by the closest friends and family to keep their day rooted in intention and they could spend moments with each and every guest.

Two unique things about their wedding day that supported this intentionality & intimate feel:
1- an extended cocktail hour so that they had time to mingle with each and every guest while also not missing out on any formal moments. This also left plenty of time to capture the atmosphere of one of the most energized parts of the day, without feeling rushed.
2- Instead of a dance floor, they chose to mingle with their guests with music playing in the background during their reception. This again allowed for these two to have meaningful moments with all of their guests.

What I loved most about this wedding day is that H+C made sure that their day reflected exactly what they wanted and who they are as people. They didn’t cling to tradition if it didn’t feel like them, and that’s what a wedding day is all about 🤍
