Here are some local events going on in the Berkshires this weekend in celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day:
🍂 The Mission House in Stockbridge: Visit Our Lands, Our Home, Our Heart / Nda’keenã , Weekeyaak , Nda’anã, an exhibit curated by the Stockbridge-Munsee Community’s Cultural Affairs Department, to learn about the Indigenous history of the area and how to build respectful relationships with the Tribe. On view through November, 2023!
🍂 Alliance for a Viable Future Indigenous Peoples' Day Weekend: Fifteen tribal nations, including the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of the Mohicans, will join a celebration of Native American culture in South County on the weekend of Oct. 6-9.
🍂Indigenous Peoples' Day Workshop: To honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the Stockbridge-Munsee Community’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office is presenting a workshop led by Kim Hoffman, descendant of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. In this workshop, Hoffman explores staying connected to creation through compassion and tribal healing modalities. Trained in massage therapy and Asian body work, Hoffman brings her cultural teachings and traditional Indigenous medicinal knowledge to the workshop as she shares holistic techniques. Monday, October 9th (Indigenous Peoples’ Day) at the Mission House Museum, 19 Main St, Stockbridge.
