Society says to follow your heart, but looks down on Christians when they choose to follow and obey God.
Many will claim they’re a Christian without truly knowing who Jesus is or exemplifying a life changed by God. So, how can we discern between what the world tells us and what is right and true?
Truth may seem irrelevant in today’s society, as the world progresses past Christianity and reality, but let me encourage you: God doesn’t change.
Our finite minds cannot fathom an infinite God, but the Bible tells us that there is none other like Him, and yet He loves us:
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 ESV
Jesus, fully God and fully man, came down humbly as a baby, lived a perfect life we couldn’t live, and died the most painful death on the cross in our place to save us from our sin. He rose on the third day and is alive today, reigning and interceding on our behalf!
No matter how many times we’ve turned away and done wrong, Jesus is there, calling us to turn from our sin and come to Him❤️
Jesus makes us brand new, and believing and placing our faith in Him is the first step of our new life. He makes us new! It’s not always easy, but choosing Jesus over our selfish desires is always worth it. He is always with us as our Savior, Redeemer, Comforter, and Lord.
“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.’” Matthew 16:24-25 ESV
So, truth is found in Jesus—in God! Knowing what God says in His Word is so important in today’s relativistic society. When we seek and trust God, even when we don’t understand, it doesn’t matter what the world says about us. His ways are higher than ours, and knowing His Word will give us more discernment between what may seem right and what is right.
“You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 CSB
