A few months ago, one of my photographs was selected for the Sentara Brock Cancer Center Loaned Art Program. Today I had the chance to attend the artist appreciation event, see my work hanging on the wall, and receive this certificate.
Photography has always been about finding beauty in ordinary moments for me. Knowing that one of those moments might offer a little peace, hope, or simply something beautiful to look at for a patient or their family is incredibly humbling.
Thank you to Sentara for supporting local artists and for recognizing the role art can play in healing. I'm grateful to be a small part of something that means so much.
Sometimes you never know where a photo will end up or whose day it might brighten.
