Real and Honest update.

It’s been quiet here in Rayne & Rose land.

I had this whole plan to relaunch and put to practice everything I have been learning and preparing since early last year.

I had a whole game plan.

It was BEAUTIFUL, RAW, and SIMPLY YOU.

But then my dad’s diagnosis came.

He was terminal.

Our time was limited.

And I poured my heart into him and my mom. (Best decision ever).

In April, his fight came to an end.

I could go into the cliche “photos matter” post here. We have all heard it and we secretly all hate it.

BUT. I. WON’T.

Because, MOMENTS matter MORE than the photos.

So over the last 3 months, that’s what I’ve been focusing on.

MOMENTS LIVED.

My camera roll is pretty empty and my heart roll is filling up.

So why does this matter for Rayne & Rose?

Because, this fuels my reasons for documenting YOU.

You LIVE the MOMENT.

You MAKE the MEMORY.

You BE YOURSELF.

AND

I document it so you can RELIVE it over and over again.

So I’ll end with this. My job is to take documenting off your plate so that YOU can LIVE and make memories with YOUR people.

Sunrise flying has quickly become my favorite. I’m home from a quick trip. Over the last couple years I have learned that I love taking photos from the airplane window.
It is fun to watch the surroundings and see the patterns and textures. It’s calming and keeps me entertained.
My kids also love getting the photos.
What is something you do to pass the time during travel?

My beautiful boy. Time is a thief.

I can’t believe how he has changed this year. He has lost his “little boy looks” and is full on boy now. It’s been such a transition as he wants to call me mom and do sleep overs and make his own dinner. He is independent and wonderfully joyous.

These are the moments I love. Him being is cool self naturally. In his element.

So here is my question, color or bnw? I feel like the bnw feels older and more mature.

Lazy mornings with these goons are my favorite.
I do love seeing their taste in movies transform. We are currently a Jurassic Park, Greatest Showman, and Mary Poppins loving family and it makes my heart so happy.

What’s your go to movie to watch on a lazy day?

My why’s. My world. My babes.

This is a rare posed photo of them.

For those new here, I am a momma of 4 amazing kiddos. They give my life a purpose I never knew I would want to have.
They have become my reason to continue picking up this camera, because I am a better mom when I slow down and enjoy the beautiful moments of their lives. Like when they color on each other’s faces or make forts with all of the couch cushions minutes after the family room is cleaned up.
Documenting the moments allows them to live in the moment and for me to see it as more than a mess. It’s childhood wonder. It’s imaginations blooming. It’s beautiful.

It’s been a crazy couple of days but we are finally in WI! We made some beautiful core memories as we drove from VA to my home town.

Spent the day in my favorite part of town nailing down the exact location for fall minis.

If you haven’t followed my personal work, then you may not know my absolute love for the older parts of Norfolk. Freemason district is pretty and all. But this neighborhood will always be my favorite.

Just proof that sunset isn’t the only good time to take photos. And you don’t need to travel far to get beautiful images of the beautiful people in your life.

I really love this season and how she has just wanted to be close to me and her dad. At times it can be suffocating. But this day. This day I remembered the joy of carrying my child close to my heart. Knowing that my nearness was all she needed.

I know these days are fleeting fast, so i grabbed my camera. Put it on a desk and snapped away. The angle may not be the best. It may have been extra dark. But it is a memory that I cherish. A memory that takes me back to every other time I wore my kids around as I got housework done and dinner made.
