A few weeks ago, I met with Minnow from for a photoshoot exchange that allowed us to be in our creative feminine energy together🤍

No pressure, no force…just time to go back and forth getting inspired and taking lifestyle portraits of each other that we could have for our social media and marketing💫

Minnow is an incredible photographer who pays attention to details and crafts imagery that truly reflects the story behind the individual🫶🏼

And being around that 🔥 energy had me feeling radiant in front of the camera when it was my turn!

When you have outgrown your old identity, you will know it deep within…

Things won’t feel the same, you just feel differently.

With being an established wedding photographer for nearly 20 years, I built an identity that was centered around performance, constant people pleasing (and feeling like I could never make some people happy) and expectations I would put on myself and others…it would be rewarding with the financial aspect of it, but completely draining and like I could never keep my head above water on the other side of it.

The career didn’t define me…but it helped me become more aware of myself, energy and others around me.

I learned that my camera also became a tool of healing…helping people feel comfortable in their skin, guiding them through huge milestone moments in their life and holding space for people to just be themselves.

And now as a sound practitioner, it’s a bit similar to what I was doing with photography except this time it’s with other instruments…my sound bowls, my ocean drum, my Tibetan bowls, chimes, etc.

Helping people come back home to themselves through the sound journey they are meant to have.

I will always come back to the understanding that the medicine is in the work that I do with people…the tools can be interchanged but the outcome is always the same.

And that’s the beautiful thing to always remember and keep in my heart, always💫

This is something I love about these embodied branding shoots tbh! You get to show all aspects of yourself in a multitude of ways🫶🏼

As I’m wrapping up these last beautiful wedding edits…I am reflecting deeper about so many things✨

Having big realizations about the magnitude of this work and how creating this wedding photography company has led me to learning and studying more about people, understanding how important it is to stay grounded during stressful times, educating myself about energy, understanding big themes like knowing there is a lot of fun with South Asian weddings but there’s also a very big pressure for our couples and their families.

We, as their trusted wedding vendors/guides, are there for our couples throughout it all. And if we are empaths (which a good majority of us are) then we feel every little nuance and emotion that goes on that day.

We know when the bride/groom is done with photos…
We know when someone feels off or uncomfortable…
We know when anxiety comes in the room.
We know when things are hitting people on a deep level.
We know when to remind the couple what the day is about and keep them fully present (even if they might be stressed out)

And it’s our job to document that day in a way that flows effortlessly while being mindful of busy timelines, family photos, rituals and traditions…

It’s a lot but learning all of this has really shaped me into the person I am today…and as I wrap up these last edits, I am being so mindful of it all. What a gift to be able to learn so much from a career that at its main sense is all about presence.

There is something so beautiful about being a space holder as a wedding photographer and videographer that I will miss so much…being able to be so incredibly present, helping guide our couples stay grounded through this milestone and being able to bring these memories back to them as a sacred keepsake🫶🏼🥹
