“I could have walked around the world a couple times
I could have swam across the ocean and back again
Made a wish on every star that Galileo drew
For all the time I've wasted on you
I could have downed a million beers in Mexico
Counted every piece of gravel on a long country road
Sailed that slow boat to China right up to the moon
For all the time I've wasted on you
Time goes by and when it's gone it's gone and you realize
Time just lies and you did not move on
No, you just cried
I could have filled the Mississippi river with my tears
No telling what I could have done with all these years
I could have dug out the Grand Canyon with a spoon
For all the time I've wasted on you
For everything I've lost I'm not mad at love
I'd even give it one more day if I thought it would be enough
I could have served five life sentences for a crime I didn't do
For all the time I've wasted on you” -Lori McKenna

Every brain is wired differently. Due to experiences. If we know that we ourselves do not intend malicious things, doesn’t it make sense that others are the same? That we are all a miraculous sort of puzzle, individually?

We have a misconception, maybe, that everyone else has their puzzle put together? Our misconceptions then cause misunderstanding, and well, the rest is history….possibly?

As much as we all feel scared, confused, angry, sad, lonely and a plethora of other emotions, thoughts and feelings, we are also feeling them differently, for different reasons and at different times.

If we could understand that all the puzzles out there, crossing paths and sharing spaces with other puzzles, for even brief interactions, there is great possibility for pieces to not fit, causing misunderstandings. Misconceptions flow from the words of the ones who misunderstand, then flowing into the ears of the next, and on and on.

Misunderstanding is the basis on which we make up and grow stronger, together. Maybe because those faces are familiar, we are more forgiving? The faces of our mothers and fathers, family members, friends.

I think I’m going to tend to my own puzzle. Find my pieces and put them together, so I can help in a positive way. I will not judge others. And I will assume they’re not judging me.

The reason, I believe, that I am “all or nothing”, in Trust is because I’ve seen disappointment, I’ve felt it, I’ve been it. I’ve stopped expecting anything. That’s been the thing that’s kept me alive.
