Five years ago in Traverse City, Michigan on a lavender farm in my "let's experiment with random photo presets" phase. As this handsome guy & I celebrate 12 years of marriage this weekend, I'm grateful to have such a supportive husband by my side. From art/photography to adventures, he always has my back and cheers me on. I could not have grown as a photographer as much as I have these past years without his support. I think it's good every now & then to stop, reflect and acknowledge those who help our creative dreams grow, whether it's a supportive spouse, family member, friend, mentor, or even an encouraging online community. Who are your biggest cheerleaders?

It was a surprise to get interviewed this morning by ABC57 at the Niles Bluegrass Festival and to make the local news. I appreciate a community that supports the arts and music, and enjoyed meeting many new people with some great conversations this weekend.

I've become increasingly fascinated by the small details in nature. Patterns of waves, rock, bark, sand, mud. Here, the golden sunlight of evening plays on the ocean waves in Polihale Beach in Kauai, Hawaii. Abstracts highlight interesting parts of the landscape that can easily be missed or only briefly admired in passing.

A closer view of the magnolia tree blossoms last week. Similar to peak fall color, the brilliance of spring blossoms often lasts only a handful of days, but gives us so much beauty.

Magnolia trees at the First Congregational Church in St. Joseph, Michigan were beautiful yesterday. The blossoms were just about past peak, with petals starting to drop, and I'm sure more have fallen with the storms and rain. Thank you to the church for access to these beautiful trees!

The St. Joseph, Michigan Lighthouses earlier today (April 14, 2026). How drastically the scene has changed from two months ago, when lighthouses, pier and lake were all encased in ice. No amazing sunset or perfect lighting, just a (finally) sunny afternoon and a view we locals are familiar with. Spring is here, and the lake is calling. South Bank Beach, Brisbane, Australia after Cyclone Alfred (March 2025).

Hard to believe it's been a year since the brave people of Brisbane (mostly) blew away a cyclone (hurricane). There was a Facebook event. People went outside and blew east "to push the cyclone back to the ocean." And what do you know, the cyclone got delayed a couple days and weakened. Coincidence? I think not 😂 (And yes, allll the jokes were circulating). My flight back to the USA got delayed due to the cyclone, and while the rain fell hard and there were some areas that flooded, it wasn't anywhere as bad as predicted, fortunately.
