A few favorites from the cake smash part of her session -- including that beautiful cake by Caked and some of her first reactions to it.

One of the things I love most about first birthday sessions is that they can be built around almost any color palette or theme while still leaving room for classic portraits and family photos too. It ends up being such a fun way to celebrate turning one and document this stage before it changes again.

Before the cake comes out, I always make time for a few classic portraits like this.

These simpler images are such a nice part of a first birthday session because they give you something a little more timeless alongside the themed setup and cake smash photos. Parents and siblings are always welcome too, whether you want a few quick family photos or want to keep the focus just on baby.

Cake smash sessions take place in my Niantic Connecticut studio and can also be done in your home if that works better for your family.

I love when a theme feels soft, simple, and still really pretty in photos, and this one came together so well. Cake smash sessions can be as custom or as simple as you'd like, and everything is planned around your baby's colors, theme, and personality.

This little bamboo bed is always a favorite.

The soft cream tones kept everything simple and timeless, letting the focus stay right on baby. Setups like this work beautifully in both studio and in-home newborn sessions.

Whether sessions take place in my studio or in your home, wraps, props, and styling are all provided. Parents don't need to worry about bringing anything unless there's a special item they'd like to include.

It has been such a privilege to photograph this family through all three of their newborn sessions. Getting to see families grow is one of the best parts of this job.

For this in-home newborn session, we created a mix of family portraits and classic newborn images right in the comfort of their home. How cute is this?? I don't usually do themed setups for baby milestone sessions, those sessions when baby is between 3-9 months old. This time mom asked if we could use my Hundred Acre Wood setup and of course we had to do it -- it was such a cute fit for him.

He was just starting to sit on his own and was at that fun stage where every expression and reaction feels brand new. These sessions are a great way to capture that in-between season before babies become busy toddlers.

Milestone sessions can be booked directly through my website and are also complimentary for families who book both a maternity and newborn session with me.

How cute is this outfit mom brought for baby girl? It was so perfect with the soft ivory tones and textures we used throughout the setup and added such a personal touch while still fitting beautifully with the rest of the gallery.

Every newborn session comes together a little differently depending on the colors, styling, and little details families choose along the way, which keeps each gallery feeling unique to them.
