This was taken at a workshop I went to because I wanted to learn to light people in the epic way Brad and Dani do. They did not disappoint! It left everyone attending the workshop wanting to buy the gear learned to use. And you can get that gear for the best deals of the year right now! Comment DEAL and I will send you and link and a little something special so you can get your fav gear at a great price. This image was edited using with Brad’s cloudy daze preset. I used my R6mkii with my 24-105 f4 lens. Scroll through for the BTS shot. Big thanks to the for coming out for us to photograph and for helping setup all the great athletes that day.

Have you ever taken a photo of someone only to find they look totally different to how you saw them in real life? You aren’t alone in this. When we see people in person in three dimensions our brains apply the equivalent of an Instagram filter on people. But when we look at still photos our brains don’t apply the filter. Every little “flaw” will now be more visible. This is why shooting with has become such a critical part to my headshot and portrait workflow. I tether directly into Evoto and have the images retouched right in real time so that they look as beautiful as the person looks standing right in front of me when I look at them with my own eyes. To me it is a far more accurate representation of my subject. It makes the experience so much better for my subject too because they don’t have that jarring negative experience of feeling like they don’t even recognize the person staring back at them in their shots. Now they only see themselves as how they would look on their best day on the monitor as I take their photos. This helps lift their confidence and their genuine expressions reflect this in the resulting images. So if you haven’t done a session tethered into Evoto yet give it a try. You will assuredly end up with a happier client, you’ll likely sell more images, and you will have so much less post-processing to do. It is a massive WinWin! You can download and try out Evoto for free. When you are ready to purchase credits to export your images be sure to use the promo code VailFucci to get the best discount available. If you have any questions feel free to put them in the comments or DM me. And if you want to learn more about how I do this be sure to register for the free Vision Forward summit where I will be talking about how to elevate your business with automation and come to my ImagingUSA class on high volume headshots.

I seriously have the best job ever. Tonight I got my aura read and photographed VIPs doing a backstage tour at the Maroon 5 concert at TD Garden. The LiveNation crew know how to put together flawless once in a lifetime experiences for guests. was my aura reader from and it was honestly cathartic. I had always thought this type of thing was just a party trick, but this was something special. And the amazing thing was to witness how it had this same effect on all the attendees too. Missy has a real gift of connecting with people on a deeper level. The VIPs’ experience culminated with me taking their photo up on stage. Our tour director kindly grabbed this shot of me up on stage. I was standing in nearly pitch blackness but my r6mkii combined with my fj80ii did a great job of focusing. This was shot on the canon 16mm f2.8. I bring it with me to events when I need super wide angle shots but don’t want a ton of weight or space taken up in my bag. It is tiny but mighty! The light was softened with magsphere. 1/40 2.8 iso 2500. The slow shutter speed is to let in more ambient behind me. The spot I was in was so much darker than the background so I was assured the flash would freeze my motion. So kids out there, when you are considering what career you want to pursue, I highly recommend looking into event photography. There are so many incredible opportunities you may get to experience.

got a sampling of Boston’s special headshot sauce tonight courtesy of and the The Salt students brought their A-Game! Check out these shots of the NYC Salt board members they took during my workshop tonight. First the students learned the basic ins and outs of Evoto, which they are providing for free to students and alumni of the program. Then we moved to the studio to explore uses of the ice lights and x-drop pro that Westcott so generously donated so that the students will be able to do on location shoots in the future. We focused on what I call shooting for the edit. By shooting tethered directly into Evoto with my optima cable the students were able to have the images retouched right in real time. They didn’t need to guess what the images would look like in post later. They could adjust what they were doing as they went along. Then when the shoot was done all that was left to do was image selection. No other post processing was needed. Glasses glare, gone! Lights in shots, gone! Hair smoothed out, you betcha! We started with the traditional triangle lighting I use for most corporate shoots and then worked our way through more creative setups and dabbled with background replacement the whole time so we could create a bit of texture on the backdrop without having to change from the standard x-drop background. Seeing how into it the students got was incredibly rewarding. What Alicia and Xavier are doing at NYC Salt for these future professional photographers is outstanding and I am so very glad that I can help in some small way on their photography journey. Thank you so much to Evoto and Westcott for making this possible. I couldn’t do it without you! I can’t wait to see what the NYC Salt students are able to create on their own with their newfound knowledge of Evoto combined with my favorite tiny but mighty ice lights.

The night of the 10th anniversary Silver Soirée I took editorial portraits that matched each subject’s brand color for more than 50 attendees in just a few short hours and delivered the retouched images to them before the party ended. My station had a line from the moment it opened until last call was made and then some. So how did I pull this off? With the right combination of gear, software, and experience. provided the disco ball wall backdrop. I brought 5 RGB ice lights with me. Two were positioned at the back with the barn doors on. As soon as a new subject stepped up I asked them what color background they wanted. I could control the colors of each of the lights remotely using the Westcott app on my phone. Then I had 3 of the lights in bi-color mode. My brand new “Tiny But Mighty Modifier” prototype had its first night out on the town so that I could get the attendees even softer light, less skin shininess, and beautiful catchlights in the eyes. And the last light was used to illuminate me so the subjects could see my cues. I shot tethered from my r6mkii to running on my laptop with my bright high visibility orange optima cable for the fastest most reliable tethering experience there is, it also was less likely to be tripped over. Subjects marveled at how the images were retouched right in real time. And they were agog when they received them within minutes of their shoot via . The days after were so incredibly rewarding to see all those women proudly posting their images I took, many even updating their profile photos with it. Thank you so much for inviting me to be there that night and to .bes and for grabbing me some great BTS footage. More and more often I am using constant lights at events because I know they will have video coverage as well. If you want to provide your guests with the ultimate wow factor at your next event, this setup absolutely will deliver, and it won’t break the bank or your back! If you have questions feel free to DM me.

Yesterday was such an exciting day for me. I was one of the speakers at the expo. I gave my “Tiny but Mighty” Lighting seminar. We covered on camera flash, when to use Manual vs TTL, how to modify your light using tools, and how to balance the ambient light with flash. Then we moved on to my favorite strobe combo, the FJ200 and the convertible 32” umbrella and their new T1 transmitter. The big finale was with the Westcott RGB ice lights. We showed how you can quickly change the color of a background, or add color for a fun edge light as well as how you can do clam shell lighting incredibly easily. was such a good sport to be our model. We finished up the seminar with the tried and true triangle lighting setup and then I got to share my prototype for my diffuser for the ice lights. Everyone thought they were such a great idea and so easy to set up and use. Putting my idea for a product out there and getting feedback from other photographers was so rewarding and exciting! If you think they are a good idea and should be produced please let me know in the comments or DM me. I’d love to know how you think you’d use them. Thank you everyone who attended!

Our first prototype for my modifier for the ice lights finally made its debut out in public and the results were thrilling for me! All the softness and great catchlights of a softbox combined with the portability of the ice lights and it folds down to the thickness of a few sheets of paper. I am in heaven! Thank you so much for driving version II to me all the way from Connecticut so I can share it with my seminar attendees tomorrow. If this is a product you could see yourself using please say so in the comments below and what use case scenario you see using it. Thanks! And thank you to for sharing her BTS footage with me.

Somebody Pinch Me! I still can’t believe my dreams are coming true. Since I was a child I dreamt of being a professor. Helping people learn is such a rewarding experience that warms my heart so much and gives me a thrill at the same time. So it was extra fun as I was scrolling on Facebook to see an ad pop up from for my seminar I am giving on the 8th. This one will be focusing on Tiny but MIGHTY lighting setups. More often than not I am shooting on location. Regularly hauling over a hundred pounds of gear to on location shoots was taking its toll on my body. So I worked with to find solutions that would work for me when I am working outside of my studio that are vastly lighter but still get the job done well! In this class we will focus on on camera with flash for events, fj200s with umbrellas, and ice lights for dramatic portraits and headshots. There are only 4 spots left. Hope to see you there! And if you can’t make it I will@be going over my ice light setup at my platform class at ImagingUSA on high volume headshot work with instant retouched delivery using a combo of for real time retouch and for delivery.

The devil is in the details. Happy Halloween from the Fuccis. Ben is daredevil, Ro is half angel/half devil, Matt is devilishly good looking as Jean Luc Picard (yes a recycle from@last year but it was red), and I’m the Devil wears Prada. Bought this dress at the day before Halloween on a whim instead of just getting devil horn headband to match the kid’s Devil theme this year. Now after seeing this photo took of us I am seeing red, but in the best of ways and thinking of shoots. I might just have to do an editorial red on red shoot in this dress for fun! Which look do you prefer? With or without the hood on?
