These outdoor newborn sessions are so sweet! It’s a totally different vibe from poses newborn sessions in the studio but I’m loving these as well! What do you think? Do you prefer posed studio newborns, lifestyle outside family newborn or both?

This age (6 months) is one of my favorite ages to photograph a baby. They are just so cute and innocent and just so authentic in their personalities. At this age, completely unaware of judgement or approval. They just...simply are. And it’s adorable to watch their personalities shine through.

I remember the first time I was pregnant. I was so excited at the thought of becoming a mommy. I couldn’t wait to meet my sweet baby. And every week I would look up how big she was. I got so excited each week as she grew from a watermelon seed to a walnut, to a lemon and so on, all the way up until she was the size of an actual watermelon! I also remember feeling physically, so uncomfortable. My body was transforming. I was tired, nauseous, emotional, hungry, and it was hard to breathe at the end. I was gaining weight and worried about all of the horror stories of how my body would never look the same again. It was an experience for sure. By my third baby and what I knew would be my last my last, I held onto every moment. Especially feeling my baby swimming around inside my belly and kicking at my hand when I would rest it where his legs and feet were. I worried less about weight and focused less on the discomfort than I did the first time. I guess what I’m trying to say is pregnancy is truly profound and magical. It’s a blessing and it’s one of the greatest gift given to us by our creator. We are women and we carry life into this world. How incredible is that?

Slowly taking on sessions again! I have missed my studio and my newborn snuggles so much!! For now all sessions will be held outside! Dates and times are limited. As a mom of three kids, I love images of the tender moments between siblings. Real talk, siblings aren’t always kind to one another. They can fight and tease each other relentlessly at times. Deep down though, there is a special bond and love there. I think it’s important to show kids these kind of photos of themselves as a reminder. A reminder of the big picture, because let’s be honest sometimes kids have trouble seeing beyond the moment and the emotion they might be feeling. It’s our job to be the calm and loving voice to guide them back to compassion and understanding. To remind them how important family and relationships are. It is the adults job to help them to navigate through difficult feelings. It is our job to lead with empathy and by example. In our house we don’t shun feelings or shame anyone for feeling big emotions. We try to work through and find healthy ways to express big feelings. That takes time and patience, but in the end I can only hope that it will build stronger trust in not only themselves but in myself, my husband and with their siblings. I can only hope it creates deeper bond to their siblings as well as gives them the tools they need to grow into confident and kind adults with respect for themselves and others. It’s the little moments that matter.
