Finding a photographer, or literally any creative in my opinion, that you feel inherently drawn to starts with connecting on a human level. Learning what inspires them, finding out what their values are, and asking as many questions as possible.
The heartbeat of my motherhood photography business really is inspired by my own grandma. She was the hardest working, most devoted, under-appreciated woman I ever knew. She hated having her photo taken yet saved HUNDREDS, if not thousands, of photos of her family dating back to the 1800s all the way to her own great grandkids. She packed dozens of three ring binders full of photos, kept every letter I ever made for her, and laminated more birthday cards than I could count. She loved the Lord with every fiber of her being + sacrificed so much of herself to the call He placed on her life- the call of motherhood. Documenting so many strong, selfless women in this business just like her is a testament to the way I wish someone wouldāve documented my own grandmother.
Iām creative, funny, silly, weird, extremely tender-hearted, and always willing to make myself look stupid so you donāt feel ashamed to be yourself in front of the camera. My whole heart is in this business + I canāt wait to take it to new + exciting places- wherever God should lead.
Leaning into more creative sessions, less posed/traditional shoots, and learning how to give myself permission to be the funny little girl my grandma always let me be, in front of the world, is whatās ahead for Sodak Photography!! And the fact that youāre all here alongside me as I pave the way into that new version of my business is the honor of a lifetime!!
