Happy Sunday!! More photos from South Carolina...
These are from Huntington State Park, south of Myrtle Beach. The first set are a bird called an Anhinga. It is a diving bird, like the comorant, seen more in Virginia. The Blue ring around the eye of some of the birds is a mating coloration. This bird is also called a snake bird, since it looks like snake when coming out of the water (see pic 2). They need to spread their wings to dry them after diving.
My surprise picture is the roseate spoonbill wading bird. It was a very long distance away, and I thought I was shooting an egret! This is a cropped picture and it is a bit fuzzy, but I'm thrilled to have gotten a picture of this cool bird!!
This red wing Blackbird seemed to want its picture taken as it hung around for awhile. The, "in flight" photo, reminds me of spinning brushes!
The little bird in the tree was singing to its mate, who was far off in the distance. I had to listen intently, to hear its response.
And then the Alligators! Such amazing creatures!!!
Enjoy!!!
