Sometimes you just need a stranger to see you. 🥹

I've been doing this long enough to know that imposter syndrome doesn't care how many sessions you've shot or how many clients have cried over their galleries. it just shows up anyway and makes you question everything.

but something happened at my last mini session that stopped me in my tracks. a venue owner who had never seen my work, never followed me, never heard my pitch. She just watched me work. and what she said to me in that moment is something I'm going to carry for a long time.

we don't talk enough about how good it feels to be seen for exactly what you are. not what you're trying to be. not what you're marketing. Just what you actually are when you show up and do the thing.

The whimsy and wonder of childhood are sacred in my opinion. They are the things that bring joy well into adulthood and keep us afloat when life isn't so magical. Some small humans possess more whimsy and wonder than others & I believe they are special. They become the friends that inspire us to dream. They blaze past limitations reminding us the ceiling isn't real. They add a little pizazz to life in ways unique to them.

I share a little behind the session detail in my latest reel but I couldn't help but add some fairy magic to this post. Working with families is always about the kids for me. "Can I show you something?"

Those four words have gotten me more genuine kid expressions than any treat, prop, or bribe ever could, because what comes next is me, completely serious, introducing them to Winnie. She lives in my lens. She is *very* real. And a 4-year-old who has decided today is not the day? Suddenly has a lot of feelings about meeting a fairy.

This is why experience matters more than equipment. 📸🧚‍♀️
