Some of the most meaningful wedding photos aren’t the perfectly posed ones. 🤍

They’re the moments in between.

The people helping you into your dress.
The family member wiping away tears during the ceremony.
The table full of people raising their glasses to celebrate you.
The laughter happening in the middle of dinner.
The mom holding onto her son for just a little longer during their dance.

Of course I’m going to photograph the beautiful portraits and all the details you spent months planning.

But I’m also watching everything happening around you. Including your people.

Because your wedding day isn’t just made up of the big moments. It’s all the people, relationships, reactions, and little pieces happening in between that make the day feel like yours and those who have supported and loved you.

And years from now, those are the photographs that will mean the most.

My favorite thing from our wedding… other than Daniel.

My bouquet. 💐

I’m not even being dramatic when I say I was OBSESSED with it.

Flowers were one of the details I cared about most when we were planning our wedding because I knew I wanted them to feel joyful, colorful, a little whimsical, and still elevated. Not overly perfect or like something I had seen a hundred times before.

And peonies had to be part of it.

They’ve been my favorite flower for decades, and throughout our dating relationship, anytime Daniel saw peonies at Trader Joe’s, he would bring them home for me. 🥹 I loved them so much that I intentionally planned our wedding for May, knowing spring gave me the best chance of having peonies in my bouquet.

So seeing them there on our wedding day felt like so much more than just choosing a pretty flower. They already held so many sweet little memories of us.

And somehow Samantha took everything living in my head and made this. 🥹

The pinks. The little pops of orange and blue. The trailing greenery. That dusty blue ribbon. The texture. The movement. ALL OF IT.

I was also VERY specific about what I did not want. 😂 No chamomile. No baby’s breath. Anywhere.

After the wedding, Samantha sent me a message saying how glad she was that we left the chamomile out because it kept the bouquet feeling more elevated, and I felt so validated. 😂

Because sometimes the tiniest decisions are what make something feel like you.

I tell my couples all the time that your wedding details don’t have to look like everybody else’s wedding. Choose the colors. Choose the flowers. Choose the little things you keep coming back to.

Because those are the things that make your wedding yours.

And apparently… I will be talking about this bouquet for the rest of my life. 😘🫶🏼

Let kids be kids. 🤍

You don’t need to spend your family session telling them to smile, look at the camera, stand still, or “say cheese.” Honestly, you don’t need to tell them to do much of anything.

You get to sit back, relax, and enjoy your children.

Let me do the rest.

I’ll play with them, get on their level, read their personalities, and gently guide them into what I need—all while giving them enough space to actually be themselves.

Because I’m still making sure we get the shot. The one of everyone together, the one Grandma wants framed, all of it. 😉

But in between those photographs? That’s where I get to capture them.

Their belly laughs. Their silly faces. The screams. The way they climb all over you one minute and melt into your arms the next.

So come to your session and just be with your babies.

I’ll take care of the rest. 🤍📸

Instead, it was her sister.

The second she saw her, the tears came. 🤍

It’s moments like these that remind me weddings aren’t just about two people—they’re about the people who have loved you long before this day.

Those are the moments I’ll always be looking for.

One of the questions I hear most is:

“What if my child doesn’t cooperate?”

The truth is… I don’t expect children to act like adults.

When Noah first met me, he wasn’t interested in taking photos. And honestly? That’s okay, he was at the beach!

So instead of asking him to smile at my camera, I slowed down and entered his world.

In the first clip, you’ll see me climb onto a piece of driftwood and show him how to sit. Then I simply said, “Noah… your turn!” And of course, he wanted to try it too.

As the session went on, I noticed he was fascinated by the little wildflowers nearby. I tucked a few into his sandals, and for just a few seconds he paused, looked down, giggled, pulled them out, and proudly held them in his hand.

That little moment became one of Mom’s favorite images—her phone background.

Photographing children isn’t about getting them to perform.

It’s about reading who they are, earning their trust, and making the session feel like play.

Because the best smiles aren’t asked for…
They’re found during play.

After this styled shoot, this sweet family invited me back to capture their Fresh 48 session once their new little one arrived. To me, that’s one of the greatest compliments a photographer can receive. 🤍
