Hello everyone! I decided I need to take a minute to kind of reintroduce myself because I have a lot of new followers that just know me as the picture lady from Skull Creek Studio! My name is Emily Hartinger and I’m the sole owner and photographer here! I started this crazy camera lady gig back in 2014 as a hobby but it’s morphed into something so much more. I’m a self-taught photographer that prefers to be outside in nature but also have a small indoor studio located in Newcastle that I use mostly for newborns and children.

My love for photography started as a young kid with my mom’s film camera that I would often fill up with sunset pictures (that all looked pretty similar). Thankfully with the digital age I can do that without wasting a trip to town to get a roll of film developed 😂. I grew up on Skull Creek in Weston County, WY on my family’s ranch with some of the best scenery in the county. I still live and work on my family’s ranch and actually still currently live along Skull Creek so the name for my studio is close to my heart, not just a random thing I chose.

As I get older and life seems to just fly by at the speed of light, I have come to realize just how fleeting a moment can be. That is why I do what I do. I want to be able to provide timeless photographs for families that will be cherished and treasured for years, even generations.

John's session was definitely a unique one! As an aspiring pilot, John had some great ideas for incorporating that passion of his into his senior portraits, and I absolutely loved it! The wind wreaked a little havoc on his luscious locks of hair, but it is Wyoming after all. 😂

Big thanks to Garrett Borton for the use of the super cool prop and hanging out with us for a bit!

If only there was a behind the scenes video of this shoot somewhere, right Erin? It was a little chilly and neither kiddo was really feeling like doing a photoshoot with me. But like I tell most parents of toddlers....just trust me. I'll pull something out of my hat 😂

Also. I pay my own insurance and sick leave so my benefit is getting my kid's picture back sooner 😂😂

I still have a handful of senior banners from last year that need picked up. I will set them by my door this week while it’s nice and if they aren’t picked up by Friday, I’m going to toss them.

What a beautiful weekend it was! This session did get cut a little short due to rain, but we still managed to grab some gorgeous portraits! I discovered the best little spot and it was just perfect!
