You don’t need to know what to do with your hands. Promise.

The way you reach for each other, lean in without thinking, or get caught up in your own little world. Those are the things I want to photograph, too.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’m not going to spend your entire session moving you from one pose to the next. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be yourselves, without worrying about what to do for the camera.

Some direction, room to be yourselves, and photographs that feel like the two of you rather than a recreation of someone else’s Pinterest board.

That’s more my speed.

Your venue is part of your wedding’s visual story. Choose it with that in mind.

When touring venues, think beyond whether you love how a space looks. Consider the natural light, the surrounding landscape, the architecture, and how the spaces connect throughout the day. These elements shape the atmosphere of your celebration and influence the look of your photos, too.

The Golf Club at Newcastle is such a good example of this. I’d love to photograph another wedding here.

I’ve made a pretty significant shift in the way I photograph weddings. . .

I’m moving away from hourly coverage and toward full day and weekend wedding experiences.

And honestly, it feels much more aligned with how I want to photograph weddings.

I don’t want you to be thinking, “We only have two hours left.”

I don’t want you to feel like you have to decide what matters most because there’s a clock running in the background. And I don’t want to be sending you an invoice because your reception ran a little longer than expected and there are still moments worth photographing.

Your wedding day is going to happen however it unfolds.

There will be things that take longer than planned. Moments you didn’t expect. People you haven’t seen in years. A packed dance floor you don’t want to leave. Moments that happen in between everything else.

I want the freedom to photograph those things without constantly watching the clock, and I want you to have the freedom to experience them without worrying about whether you’re “using” your coverage time.

That’s why I’m shifting toward full day and weekend collections.

More time means more room for the day to happen, without having to rush through the moments that matter to you.

And ultimately, that gives me the space to do what I’m there to do: pay attention, anticipate what’s happening, and document the day as it actually felt.

Here is your proof that you should do the bridal portraits. . .

Give yourself a little time to be completely, unapologetically the bride.

No timeline to rush through. No one waiting for you to finish getting ready. No trying to squeeze portraits into the ten minutes between family photos and cocktail hour.

Just you, your dress, your flowers, your hair and makeup, and a little time to actually take it all in.

And honestly? I’d love to see more brides make space for this.

Whether that means setting aside 20 to 30 minutes on your wedding day or even planning a separate bridal session before or after the wedding, so you can slow down and enjoy it all again.

Because you put so much thought into how you’ll look and feel on this day. You deserve more than a handful of rushed portraits to remember it by.

And yes, I will absolutely make you feel like the main character while we’re at it.

A secret elopement, a sailboat, and a summer day out on the water. Just the two of them, exactly how they wanted it.

Two years later, in the middle of fall, I’m still thinking about this session.

There’s something about choosing an experience over a traditional plan. Getting out on the water, letting the wind do its thing, and having the freedom to be fully present with the person you just married.

These are the kinds of sessions I want more of. The unexpected plans, the personal details, the experiences that give you something to remember beyond how the photos look.

If you’ve been dreaming up something a little different for your elopement or couples session, I’m all for hearing about it.

The things you chose. The atmosphere you created. The little pieces that make the day unmistakably yours.

I never want your gallery to feel like a checklist of moments to get through. Part of my job is noticing what you’re too busy living to notice yourself, so you can stay present while I pay attention to everything unfolding around you.

Your wedding deserves to be documented in all of its layers, so when you look back, you can remember not just what your day looked like, but what made it feel like yours.
