I started by taking a lot of bad shots while out on a long walk. But every once in a while I hit a good one, and those were the ones that kept me coming back. New equipment and more practice helped and over time I started to take less bad shots. Another saying I have heard is photography is like painting with light. With landscape photography the sun will decide what colors you have to work with a

t that moment. But wait a while and the colors can change. Over time I have tried to get the full 64 box of crayons worth of color into my shots.

Living on the coast is just different. We can all smell this at low tide just by looking at it. Now, not to mention how much the salt marsh does for nature and the environment around here - at sunrise, it looks SO COOL!

New locations are great when I get there and parking is easy and timing is just before sunrise. Not knowing the place it was nice to find there’s a beautiful boardwalk still covered in morning dew to bring me right up to the Fire Island Lighthouse.

I finally made it down to the Fire Island Lighthouse for a nice calm sunrise.

Pulling up I get to a gate with an 'OPENS AT SUNRISE' sign and UGH. Always hate those sighs when I'm trying to SHOOT sunrise. It was a few miles out still with no parking there, so I pull over to think and as I do a pickup comes by and 'Bo Dukes it' around the side of the gate and keeps on going. Well, OK then. I guess I am in too. And when I get to the lot there is about 30 cars so.. I guess it was fine!

It's all what we focus on. And how much difference a slight change of attention can reveal. The crazy pink and purple cotton candy clouds were just about 55 - 60 degrees to the right of the reflecting row of beach homes along the Wall in North Hampton. I just moved the tripod a little, ha.

It had been gloomy all day so when I saw a little rainbow poking out off shore and I pulled over. After a few shots I realized it wasn't turning into much of anything while the sky continued to change - and get funky. What I have called a backwards sunset - where the sky opposite the sunset is where the show is!

Well after saying Hi to that cool dog ZONE, I captured these different views of the awesome weather.

This guy had to say Hi when I was shooting at the Wall in North Hampton. He is 'Zone' and funny but I was in a Zone shooting the sunset when he went by and then came back. Finally I turn and -Hey Buddy. He is awesome. And his human was nice enough to let him off leash for me to get a few shots.
