Beginnings always hide themselves in ends.

The Newburyport Studio has been my heart and soul the past five years. This was not how I envisioned our journey ending, but sometimes life forces us to make the hardest choices, begin new chapters and pivot.

Due to such a drastic rent increase, I’ve made the tough decision to not renew my lease and CLOSE next month. This will be my last post. (I felt it only fitting to end with the very first photo ever posted.)

This wasn’t a decision I made lightly, but one I made with my future, my son, my community and my values in mind.

I greatly appreciated your input, when the results were so evenly divided I knew I ultimately had to make the final decision. While bittersweet it saddens me most knowing the immeasurable amount of time, effort and love I’ve put into it is being cut short. But I’ll be at peace knowing this decision was the right one, especially when I look at the best thing I’ve created — my son. 🥹

Only a dozen 2 hour weekday rentals remain this November! (Or 3 half day 4 hour rentals). We’ve loved seeing some photos from your sessions since the holiday set began 2 weeks ago. We also noticed a few of the gingerbread cookies are now missing limbs and heads 😂 (They will be replaced with a new batch.)

My poor 3 year old has been asking incessantly when Santa is coming since we began decorating early October 🤦🏻‍♀️ Opps.

Secure your date on the BOOK HOLIDAY page of the website before they’re gone. (Please note the only remaining weekend rentals available are Dec 15, 21 & 22.) While most have sold out there are still availability to join a photographers mini sessions on the Experiences page on November 15 & 16!

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for all the incredible work our local animal rescue organizations do to help those in need. The compassion, dedication, and tireless efforts their team puts in to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for these vulnerable kittens is truly inspiring.

Having over 20 kittens in the studio last week was WILD! 🐾 Thank you to and — We know a few kitties left with forever homes but so many are still without.

Please reach out to these organizations if you’re looking to adopt. Many of these guys pictured above were displaced due to the hurricane and there’s a great need currently for fostering & adopting.

Thank you for these wonderful shots during ‘kitten cuddle hour’ to help find these little ones a home. 🫶🏽

3 TIPS & TRICKS to ensure a successful mini session (& happy clients)…

1. If your rental starts at 8am, do NOT book your first client at 8am. Leave yourself some breathing room to access the studio, settle in, start playing some nice holiday tunes, check out the props & drink your free hot coffee before it’s go time!

Same if you booked at 1pm. Do not start clients at 1pm. There may be a morning renter before you who extended their time until 12:50pm and will take 5-10 minutes to move their car after locking up the studio so you can park. We recommend starting photographing clients 15-20 minutes after your rental time so you’re not frantic and look as professional & prepared as possible! (Please be mindful of renters after you and give 15-20 minutes of buffer room at the end of your rental to account for potential late clients and to pick up so the studio looks as good as when you arrived).

2. Give yourself time to market! Photos of this year’s holiday setup can be downloaded in our BIO link. You are free to use these to help promote your session. Also, every year we have dozens of people message us on instagram to find a photographer for the holidays — For $50 you can add on ‘Promote my Experience’ at checkout and we’ll frequently advertise your mini sessions on our website, instagram and monthly newsletter! (You can always email us after booking to add this on too.)

3. While we have the decor covered it doesn’t hurt to offer an additional unique experience for your clients to set your sessions apart — hot coco, Santa Clause himself, swanky clothing options, polaroids for instant photos, stylist, makeup artist or posing tip expert, etc… Sessions can be hectic (especially for families) anyway you can enhance a clients experience will ensure they comeback to you year after year.

Expect a stunning setup with even more elevated decor and high end furniture pieces, throws and fur from — oversized ornaments hanging and gorgeous live eucalyptus adorning the windows. This promises to be the best holiday set yet while being different enough from years past.

A shoutout to the women who are going through the toughest time in their personal life but still continue to show up for their business, their brand, their careers, their craft, kids, community and clients.

It takes a lot of resilience to keep pushing especially when SO much of it is done in solo and in silence.

Let it be a reminder that you never really know the true impact you have on those around you. Be kind. Listen. There’s so much we don’t see behind the scenes.
