A Merlin, sitting in the drizzle at Parker River NWR.

The Merlin is the middle sized Falcon of the three found in the United States. The Peregrine and the Kestral are the other two Falcons.

There were only two other cars in the refuge besides the park ranger. I love going in the not so good weather. You see more without the crowds.

Second week of having hummingbirds. They came a little early this year. Two male ruby throated hummingbirds having a discussion about whose turn it is at the feeder.

Please remember to change out your humming bird food every few days and every day if the temps reach 90 degrees and clean your feeders. These are just a few small points about humming bird food. Please seek out a more complete and accurate information source if you are feeding humming birds. - Knox County, Maine
