Oscar Wilde once wrote, “Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess.” And I’m pretty sure he would have been delighted by Kristi () and Kyle’s wedding, because this celebration didn’t just reject moderation—it laughed in its face. Their Phillies Stadium wedding in Philadelphia was a gleeful, unapologetic celebration of everything they love, and it was pure joy to photograph. After almost 10 years and hundreds of other weddings Nick and I still talk about this one with love, amazement and possibly to confirm it wasn’t a wonderful fever dream.

Let’s get the obvious part out of the way. Yes, Jay looks like a straight-up Ken doll or a fairytale prince, and Anna could easily be a Disney princess who grew up to become a high-fashion model. But here’s the thing — they’re every bit as beautiful on the inside.
And I don’t just mean sweet and easy to work with (though they were total dreams). Anna runs Project Corazon, a nonprofit supporting community leaders in the Dominican Republic, and Jay works in environmental conservation and has spent time studying tigers in India and jaguars in Paraguay. On top of all that badassery and kindness, they’re both utterly brilliant. “Beautiful nerds,” as one friend perfectly put it.
Oh, and Anna’s a huge Lord of the Rings fan who dreams of owning a donkey named Samwise Gamgee. Be still my nerdy heart. And they had a Barn Wedding (I have a bordeline unhealthy love for barn weddings).
