The Phillips Family has graced my camera once again.. this time under more urgent circumstances.

Katrina.. the amazing pink-haired mom, barber, world wide wonder pictured here has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Facing chemo, she knew that things may look a little different if we waited much longer.. so we got together and shot these a few weeks ago in Colonial Beach.

It was a blessing and an honor to capture these fun & loving moments with this colorful family amidst the storm. The dark clouds rolled in, the sunlight was hidden and the winds started picking up.. but we pulled it off.. and I know the same will happen with this diagnosis! May we all take a lesson from Katrina & the rest of the Phillips family.. that even when the darkness rises, God will make something beautiful out of it.

Whatever storm we’re facing— just remember that God has the final say!

After all these years, I've realized that senior personality photos are truly one of my favorite things to shoot. Who we are before the world gets it's hands on us. The real us. THIS should never be dulled and dimmed. The beauty of knowing EXACTLY who we are... and an entire life ahead of us to trying to figure out. When in reality, we're already there. May we embrace longer and more fully this type of innocence.

This stunner here is my baby sister Jenny. A heart of gold...a heart for Jesus. Bold.. sensitive.. reclusive.. creative.. loving.. affectionate. But so much more than that. She knows exactly what she wants and doesn't want... and no problem saying so. She cares so deeply for not just those she's closest to but extends that same love to every person she crosses paths with. She is unique. Not your typical teenage girl, but it's so beautiful the way that she chooses to embrace the core of who she is and not budge for anyone.

The world would be a lot better off if it had more Jenny's in it. It may also be a lot more moody... 🙃🫶

Congratulations baby sis on completing your final year in grade school. You are amazing just as you are.. but I can't wait to see you grow in life and in Christ. I cherish our bond and I wish nothing but the best for you. I love you!
