Jordyn, I love you endlessly. No matter what you face, I’ll always be by your side, cheering you on every step of the way. Hold your head up high and walk with confidence. You are smart, kind, intelligent, resilient, and a handsome young Black king with so much greatness inside of you.

What a blessing it was to surprise my son and my niece with a trip to LEGOLAND. 🤎

Sometimes I get so caught up in work, teaching, photography, running Blackyard, and making it to Jordyn’s sports that I have to remind myself… he’s only 7. Kids don’t just need structure—they need time to laugh, play, explore, and make memories.

No matter how busy life gets, I’ll always make time for my little man. These moments are priceless, and building memories with family and friends is something I’ll never take for granted.

Jordyn, I love you more than words can express. Thank you for making me your mom. I’ll always choose making memories with you. ❤️🏰

What an honor to serve as a judge for the New Voices Poetry Semi-Finals. 🤎

Poetry truly saved me as a child, so to come full circle as an adult and witness these incredible young artists bravely share their stories was something I’ll never forget.

One of my favorite moments was having my son by my side as my co-judge. Watching him listen, learn, and experience the power of spoken word through the voices of youth was an eye-opening experience for both of us. It reminded me how important it is for our children to see spaces where vulnerability, creativity, and truth are celebrated.

Congratulations to every single competitor. Your courage, creativity, and vulnerability are inspiring. Keep telling your stories—they matter.

A huge shoutout to our 1st Place winners, Ink Theory! 🏆👏🏾 Your performance was nothing short of incredible. The precision, attention to detail, time, dedication, and passion behind every piece were evident from beginning to end. I am so proud of each of you and excited to see where your gifts take you in the future. This is Black excellence on full display, and your voices are making a lasting impact.

Meet Kobe ☺️🐾🐶
From being adopted to adopting a puppy. 💛
I’ve been struggling and debating this one. 😬
My son keeps asking for a sibling, but I’m not with the co-parenting life again, and I refuse to have another child out of wedlock so sibling denied❌, puppy approved✅. 😂🐶
So, “paw brother” it is. 🐾
But whew… being a dog mom is different! 😅 I wasn’t fully prepared. I don’t even have sitters on deck for my son, and now I’m over here like:
“Hmm… can someone watch this puppy so I can go to work real quick?” 😂
My life is definitely life-ing, but honestly, I love where I’m at. 💛
Watching my son step into his role as a big brother has been pretty special, and seeing Kobe settle into our little family has made all the chaos worth it. Jordyn 👶🏽 & Kobe 🐾 My All Stars ✨
