What we have here is this adorable eastern gray squirrelly who has his nut and was ready to bury it but I can think he’ll forget where he put it.

Which brings me to this fun fact - Accidental gardeners: Because they forget or fail to recover about 25% of their buried stash, they plant thousands of new trees each year, helping forests regenerate.

A fun fact about these guys - No Hibernation: They stay active all winter, relying on stored caches or sleeping for days straight during severe cold.

What we have here is a Gray catbird no it isn’t a gray Pikachu 😆

While I was walking around the New York Botanical Garden I heard this catbird meowing so I followed him and he just started posing for me.

Do you think he loves his shots?

Here is a fun fact about them - Endless Songs: Their complex songs can last for more than 10 minutes without repeating a phrase the exact same way.

Squirrelly had a question for you guys.

I love these little guys they’ve always had a place in my heart since young.

A fun fact about them - Parachute tails: They can survive falls from almost any height because their bushy tail and loose skin spread out like a parachute to slow their descent.

Another fact - Headfirst descent: Double-jointed, flexible ankles rotate almost 180 degrees, allowing them to run straight down a tree trunk headfirst.

What we have here is this lovely brown headed cowbird that I seen at the New York Botanical Garden

I haven’t seen them since last year and it is good to see them coming back around the way.

A fun fact - Fast-growing chicks: Cowbird chicks often hatch sooner and grow larger and louder than the host chicks, monopolizing all the food brought by the exhausted foster parents.

Another crazy fun fact I bet you didn’t know because I didn’t either but - High egg output: A single female can lay up to 40 eggs in a single breeding season.

What we have here is this lovely house sparrow who probably doesn’t get the same attention and appreciation as other birds. I had seen this guy while walking with the fam at the New York Botanical Garden I just had to capture this moment.

A fun history fact - North American Arrival: They were first released in Brooklyn, New York, in 1851 to help control caterpillars.

Another fun fact - World Travelers: They are native to Eurasia and North Africa, but have followed humans to every continent except Antarctica.

What we have here is a Common Yellowthroat this here is my first one that I’ve ever seen and captured I am so excited. This is possibly bird number 49 or 50 I believe I don’t remember I lost count.

I wish I would’ve seen them during earlier because of this fun fact - The “Bandit” Mask: Adult males wear a bold black face mask that makes them look like tiny outlaws, earning them nicknames like “brush bandit”. Females and young birds are plain olive-brown and lack the mask.

What we have here is this lovely purple Mexican bush sage (salvia) that when I seen this it was the only one standing out and there was nothing else around I had lined up for the shot and got this.

Look at the fine details of this lovely shot.

A small fun fact - It is a “Short-Day” Bloomer: Unlike many garden perennials that flower during the long, sunny days of summer, Mexican bush sage is triggered to bloom by the lengthening nights of late summer and autumn. This makes it an incredibly valuable source of late-season color.

What we have here is this lovely Zebra Longwing butterfly that I had spotted at the Bronx Zoo while I was waiting patiently for the bear to move but this guy caught my eyes all 5 of them lol 👓 👀 📷

Anyways enough of me yapping here is a small fun fact - Pollen Eaters: Unlike typical butterflies that only drink flower nectar, adult zebra longwings use special enzymes on their mouthparts to consume protein-rich pollen, which fuels their long lives.
