I’ve always been afraid of doing portraits mainly because:

1. I’m very shy and I can’t brake the ice with people and it’s always a struggle for me to make them feel comfortable in front of my camera.

2. Need to learn how to pose people and not all poses work the same with each individual. (You can clearly see it in these portraits. I pick one pose that I thought it worked and just sticked with it… But I wish I could feel confident enough to pose them in different ways in the same shoot)

3. Lack of experience.

I had maybe 5 mins to shoot these right before Onyeka Igwe’s premiere of her short film “The Miracle on George Green” at The Highline. And to be honest I really liked them taking in count that I only had like 5 mins to shoot them.

But there is always room to grow and learn. So that being said any constructive feedback will be much appreciated 🙏

And also available for all your portrait needs 😅

Gabriel No.1

I love portraits so much but so scared of shooting them.

I’ve always felt like an outsider that is so hard for me to brake the ice with my subject and make them, not only feel comfortable with me but in front of the camera. It’s probably one of my biggest challenges as a photographer. But made it so easy for me! Maybe at the begging we were both warming up to each other but then, beautiful shots started happening that I was just shooting away while he did his thing!

Thank you to my Art Director/Make up Artist/friend 🤪 (who, BTW is also a great actor!) for:

1. Feeding us that morning - VERY IMPORTANT!
2. Letting me make a mess out of his living room
3. Trusting me and my art!

It was a great experience and I’m very happy with the results!

Note to self: Shoot more portraits!
