The school year is almost over...While they are still under your roof, rolling their eyes at your jokes but yet give you their biggest hugs. While the house is full of their laughter and chit chats.
Bring them to the studio! Bribery is totally allowed (even expected)!

In between clients' sessions, the end of the school year for my graduating teenager, my mom's hospitalization, not to mention the grand things going on in the world I took a little break for myself.

I did a photo session of me.

Actually 3, because apparently one won't do...

I couldn't look at the images for a few weeks thinking I wouldn't be able to handle what was going to be reflected back to me...

I look in the mirror every day feeling fine. I learned to love and accept myself, which is clearly the sign of maturity.

But for some reason, the professional images were harder to "process". It felt like they would reflect something true and what if I didn't like it.

They did reflect something I didn't quite expect.

I'm excited to share them soon.

You'd think "oh nice jacket. Looks good on her". Let me tell you that this jacket, a kind gift to Maggie from a friend many years ago, when she was battling one of her cancers (!!) was her anchor.

She was unable to walk. She was on heavy medication and had a low chance of living.

She told me "I looked at this beautiful jacket and I said to myself: one day I will stand up and walk. One day my hair will grow back and I'll feel beautiful again. I'll wear this jacket and be proud!".

We prepared all the outfits for Maggie's session to make her feel elegant, and bold and feminine. And we included this piece of hers because it also made her feel unstoppable. Powerful.

What a treat to have Maggie Sullivan at the studio again! Every session with Maggie is even more fun, even deeper and more emotionally charged than the previous.

We combined outfits that we sourced specifically for Maggie for this session with a few of her own pieces, that carried special importance and story.

Like the deep black leather jacket.

It was gifted to her while she was battling cancer decades ago.
She absolutely loved that jacket.
And Maggie shared that back then she promised herself that she would win the battle. She would stand strong and proud. And she would rock that jacket!

And she did!!

How special it was to include this piece to her portraits.

Every single session that we do starts from connecting to all the good that you already have inside of you.

Once that's done there is no limit to creativity, artistry, beautiful portraits and so much fun along the way!

I love hearing stories from clients whose lives changed after their photo shoots. Stories like "I found the love of my life" after years of heartache or reconnecting with an old love, or finding a new job or even a career. I can't take the credit for any of that. But something happens when you see yourself the way you haven't before. You thought you lost your spark or drive but there they are. They are still there. You thought you felt older or less happy, but you can clearly see how much joy you still have and how vibrant you still are.

Celeste, it was wonderful to photograph you and capture your joy and radiance and so much femininity.
And I'm over the moon happy to see what this new exciting chapter brings to you!
