When you spend months largely indoors without travel due to a global pandemic, an outdoor getaway is good for the soul. The Smoky Mountains never disappoint and discovering quaint little towns in North Carolina is a bonus. Breathe deep - and exhale. It's almost like you are there.

Once in a while an adventure feels like magic. Going to NYC during the holidays when you are lucky enough to have crisp, blue sky days every day, you are with your people, and every experience turns out better than you imagined, you know you are one enormously fortunate person. Making memories.

As summer 2019 winds down, we had a Great Lake adventure with friends and family. Beaver Lake never disappoints.

Every here and there the whole family and friends who feel like family come together for things which are important. Samantha graduating with her Phd was one of those times. New Orleans never disappoints and seeing Samantha cross the stage was a moment to behold in our hearts forever.

Downtowns with a town square hold a special appeal. Early on a Saturday morning while waiting for Jennifer Kurtz to cross the finish line at a race I spent some time being quite and seeing. Nothing like a cold February morning with my camera, hot chocolate, and my accomplished daughter to start the day out right.

Fall took us to Illinois to see our dear friends and youngest daughter and then we were in New Orleans for Thanksgiving only to come back to our small town to slow down and enjoy the pace of a small town Christmas parade. Large or small town, fast or slow pace, living this life is a privilege and I am grateful for all the moments.

Well - when you are at the Grand Canyon and Horseshoe Bend is only a couple of hours away, let's GO! Seeing a body of water make a 270 degree turn because it hit a wall is a bit mind boggling. And perfectly incredible.
