José 🇦🇷 Argentinos Juniors (1966-74)⚡️ As a footballer he played in the position of midfielder on the right side. At the age of 20 he made his debut for Argentinos Juniors in July 1970. Pékerman played 134 games between 1970 and 1974 in the Argentine First Division in which he scored 12 goals. He was later transferred to Independiente Medellín. José Néstor Pékerman is part of the history of the Argentinos Juniors Athletic Association, being considered by the club a « Glory of the Youth Academy ». For 10 years he was the coordinator of the minor divisions of Argentinos with great success, which is why he reached the youth divisions from Colo-Colo, youth players of the Argentine national team and then to the senior team. The footballers’ pension at the La Paternal club bears his name. After his retirement as a soccer player, for some period in order to support his family, he had to work in various jobs, including being a taxi driver in Buenos Aires. After gaining experience in clubs such as Argentinos, Estudiantes and Chacarita Juniors, fulfilling the role of assistant coach to Ricardo Trigilli, the coach who made him debut as a player, he began his career directing the youth teams of Chacarita Juniors ⚽️.

Tomas 🇮🇹 Parma AC (1990-95 & 97)⚡️Swedish forward or midfielder. A dynamic, energetic, creative and technically gifted footballer, Brolin was a world-class player in his prime, who was known for his excellent dribbling skills, as well as for his passing ability and powerful shots on goal. A versatile player, he was usually deployed as an offensive-midfield playmaker due to his ability to provide assists for teammates, but he was also used as a striker, winger, central midfielder and as a deep-lying forwardthroughout his career, due to his work-rate and tactical intelligence. Despite his talent in his youth, his career was affected by several injuries, which forced him into early retirement. At club level, he had a successful period with A.C. Parma during the early 1990s, winning the 1992 Coppa Italia, the 1993 Cup Winners’ Cup, the 1993 European Super Cup, and the 1995 UEFA Cup. A full international between 1990 and 1995, Brolin won 47 caps and scored 27 goals for the Sweden national team and helped them finish third at the 1994 World Cup. He was also a member of the Sweden squads that competed at the 1990 World Cup, Euro 1992, and 1992 Summer Olympics. He was the 1990 and 1994 recipient of Guldbollen as Sweden’s best footballer of the year. 13 days before his 25th birthday in November 1994 he broke a bone in his foot leading to 5 months out of first team football. After returning from that injury he was unable to deliver the height of performance he had pre-injury. After struggles with form, injury and weight he retired as a footballer at the age of 28 ⚽️.

🙏 Terry 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Norwich City (1958-69)💫 Born in Leeds, Allcock began his footballing career with Bolton Wanderers in 1953, where he played for five years. Allcock then made the move to Norwich City in March of 1958, where he would go on to become a club legend. His 11 years with the Canaries saw him make 339 appearances and score 106 goals, which put him second in the club’s all time goal-scoring list at the time of his retirement. He would almost certainly have gone on to break the record. But, for the last five years of his career, he played in a deeper role, at half-back. He was a key part of the memorable ‘59ers FA Cup run, when City reached the semi-final for the first time, as a third division side. His goal against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane is fondly remembered by many supporters, while the underdog Canaries also claimed scalps such as Matt Busby’s Manchester United and Sheffield United en route. He scored the most goals in all competitions in a calendar season for Norwich - 37 - and was the winner when the club first awarded a player of the season trophy in 1966-67. The ‘59ers cup run will always be talked about, but Allcock remained a huge part of the club long after his playing days at Norwich City, turning his hand to coaching until 1973 ⚽️.

Raoul 🇧🇪 Club Brugge (1962-80)⚡️ The eternal icon of Bruges. Nicknamed Lotte, Raoul Lambert was an exceptional striker. Raoul was the last born of a family of eleven children. By tradition, in the Lambert family, the youngest child was given his grandmother’s nickname. Her name was Lotte. He spent his entire career at Club Bruges and scored a very large number of goals for the club (270 in 458 matches, including 13 hattricks - Club record). He combines great physical strength with impeccable ball handling. However, his career was punctuated by stoppages: he was afflicted with glass muscles. He was elected by the supporters as the best player of all time (ahead of Jan Ceulemans). Belgian champion in 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980 and winner of the Cup in 1968, 1970 and 1977, Lambert reached the UEFA Cup final in 1976 with Club Bruges. He notably scored two goals in the final during the double confrontation against the English club Liverpool, which however proved insufficient to win the title. With him, the Club will reach the final of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup but the striker will not play in the final won (injured) by… Liverpool (1-0). Raoul Lambert is international 33 times and scores 18 goals for the Red Devils. He participated in the 1970 World Cup and Euro 1972. Twice, in 1977, he served as captain of the Belgian selection four times. He never really regretted not to have left the Club to play somewhere else ⚽️.

Jürgen 🇩🇪 West Germany (1966-74)⚡️The Frankfort player won gold medals playing for the West Germany national team that won the European championship in 1972 and the World Cup in 1974. Grabowski, originally a forward, then later an attacking midfielder or a winger, played 44 caps for the West Germany and scored five goals. He was a member of the squad that finished second in the World Cup tournaments of 1966, when he did not play. In Mexico 1970, Grabowski was called the best substitute in the world. In the game against Italy, Grabowski hit the cross to defender Karl-Heinz Schnellinger. The German professional, who played for an Italian club, scored the equalizing goal in the last second. The semi-final game was lost 4–3 after extra time. In 1972, he became European champion. Grabowski was also participant at the 1974 World Cup in Germany. He scored in West Germany’s 4–2 win over Sweden in the second round. On his 30th birthday, he and his Eintracht teammate Bernd Hölzenbein became world champions on 7 July 1974 at the Munich Olympic Stadium. His career ended in 1980 after he was injured by Lothar Matthäus ⚽️.

Andy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland (1975-85)⚡️ Andy was a powerful striker, tremendous in the air and absolutely fearless. His willingness to put his head in where it hurts possibly resulted in more injuries than most but he scored goals wherever he went. Former striker for Dundee Utd, Aston Villa in the 70’s, Everton in the 80’s and Rangers for one season in 1988. He won 20 Scotland caps where he scored 7 goals. His goal scoring record at Tannadice was soon attracting interest from English Clubs and at the start of season 1975/76 he was snapped up by Aston Villa for £110,000. Gray’s Player of the Year accolades in England were surprisingly not enough to convince Scotland manager Ally MacLeod to select him for the 1978 World Cup squad.His full international debut came on 17 December 1975 in a 1–1 draw with Romania. Four years later, he would become the most expensive ever British transfer when Wolverhampton Wanderers paid £1.46m to secure his services. He was not selected for any of Scotland’s World Cup squads during his playing days. His final senior appearance for Scotland came on 28 May 1985 in a 1–0 win over Iceland in a 1986 World Cup qualifier. This had been his first cap for two years, despite him scoring twice in his penultimate appearance for the national side on 19 June 1983 in a 2–0 friendly win over Canada, and him excelling on the club level for Everton after his transfer to the Merseyside club later in 1983. His move to see Everton in November 1983 would see Andy enjoy the greatest success of his career. The FA Cup was secured in his first season (a victory over a Watford side that included Maurice Johnston) and he de would score in that Wembley Final. The League Championship and European Cup Winners Cup would arrive at Goodison the following season as the balance of power in Merseyside shifted from red to blue ⚽️.

Carnevale was a very particular striker, with a difficult character and crystalline talent, he remained confined to Serie C until a star of Napoli, at the time at Avellino, saw something special in it, it was Luis Vinicio. ‘O Lion catapulted him into big-league football and he didn’t disappoint at 18 in the top flight. Center forward or left winger, he had an important physique, which allowed him to be lethal in headers, good technical and athletic abilities and a powerful shot. Thanks to these qualities he knew how to act both as a battering ram in the penalty area and as an irresistible counter-attacker, when, thrown deep, he launched into sensational gallops with the ball at his feet which often ended with an assist or a goal. After playing for various Italian teams, Carnevale enjoyed notable success with Napoli from 1986 to 1990, playing alongside Diego Maradona and Careca, and winning two Scudetti, one Coppa Italia, and an UEFA Cup. He was part of the Olympic national team that placed fourth in 1988 at the Seoul Olympics, an event in which he scored 2 goals. Noticed by Azeglio Vicini, he was called up to the senior national team where he made his debut on 22 April 1989 in the Italy-Uruguay 1-1 friendly. Four days later in the friendly Italy-Hungary 4-0 he scored his first goal in the blue shirt. He participated in the World Cup in Italy ‘90, where Italy finished third, starting as a starter in the attacking pair together with Gianluca Vialli. After being replaced by Totò Schillaci in Italy’s opening game of the 1990 tournament with Austria, Carnevale watched on as Schillaci scored 2 minutes later. Carnevale started the next game against USA, but after he failed to score, he was once again replaced by Schillaci. Carnevale, who, leaving the field, let out a « f**k » (« Vaffa ») that condemned him. The World Cup continued with him following it from the stands, he no longer even went to the bench. This was his last game for Italy; following the tournament, he was no longer called up to the national team. In 1990, he moved to Roma, but after 4 goals in his first five games he was suspended for a year for illegal drug use, alongside teammate Angelo Peruzzi ⚽️

René-Pierre 🇨🇭Switzerland (1964-73)⚡️ The player who has never seen the color of a yellow or red card. Midfielder with 34 caps, 10 goals, only Swiss scorer at the 1966 World Cup. He is the uncle of Yvan, also a Swiss international, who participated in the 1994 World Cup. Player largely at FC Sion and also at FC Zurich during his career. The man has always been rather discreet. The anti-star by excellence. In Sion, he immediately established himself on the left wing where his speed, combined with good technique, worked wonders. Voted player of the century at FC Sion ⚽️.

Domènec 🇪🇸 Spain (1966-68)⚡️As a midfielder he began playing football in his hometown, Gerona, in whose first team he played in the 1934/35 season, in the Second Division of Spain. The following year, Girona FC transferred him to F. C. Barcelona. With his new club he was proclaimed champion of the Catalan Championship in 1936. However, the outbreak of the Spanish civil war interrupted the League competition and also Mingu Balmanya’s career at Barcelona. Even so, he did not abandon the practice of football, and after leaving for France, he joined FC Sète in 1937, a team with which he was proclaimed League champion in the 1938/39 season. Already retired as a player, his first exclusive destination as a coach was Girona FC, which he coached in the 1952/53 season. At the head of Barcelona he would obtain his first title as a coach: the Generalissimo Cup in 1957. In 1965 he was signed by Atlético de Madrid, where he remained for only one season, 1965/66, in which he was proclaimed League champion. At the end of it he is named national coach. For two years he led the national team in the qualifying phase for the Italian Euro 1968, although he ultimately did not achieve this goal. With Balmanya on the bench, the team played a total of eleven games (eight of them official), with a balance of four wins, three draws and four losses. At the end of his time as coach, Balmanya, after a period of rest, signed again for the club where he had debuted in the First Division, Real Zaragoza ⚽️.

B***y 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England (1962-73)⚡️He was the captain of the England national team that won the 1966 World Cup. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in the history of football. A composed central defender. Moore was best known for his reading of the game and ability to anticipate opposition movements, thereby distancing himself from the image of the hard-tackling, high-jumping defender. By common consent, Bobby Moore’s greatest game was the fabled 1970 World Cup group match against Brazil in Guadalajara. To crown it all of course is « that tackle by Moore » celebrated in song [ « Three Lions »] and replayed a million times since. One hundred years from now when anyone asks what made Moore special, it will be the first piece of evidence. The Times, « Most famous tackle looked like Superman stopping a train ». On 2 June he captained England to a 1–0 victory against Romania. In the second game against favourites Brazil, there was a defining moment for Moore when he tackled Jairzinho with such precision and cleanness that it has been described as the perfect tackle. It continues to be shown on television around the world. Brazil still won the game 1–0, but England progressed through the group. Moore swapped shirts with Pelé after the game. A 1–0 win over Czechoslovakia allowed England to finish second in the group and advance to the knockout stage. At the Quarter Final stage, a rematch of the 1966 World Cup against West Germany, England took a 2–0 lead but lost 3–2 in extra time. At the end of the year, Moore was voted runner-up (behind Gerd Müller of West Germany) for the 1970 European Footballer of the Year award ⚽️.
