I couldn’t sleep last night. While yesterday helped me cope with what happened on Tuesday, I couldn’t get this person out of my mind. While Junghee Kim performed “Bonjo Arirang,” I saw her with a hand her on heart, eyes shut and mouthing the words. And even with her eyes closed and much of her face was covered, you could feel so much emitting from her. While my journalist sense urged me to ask her name, I wanted to respect her space and let her go through the catharsis. And I hope that while surrounded by two friends, she was able to find some peace during this time.

After missing the marches to in NYC, I couldn’t miss the Rally to Rise Up Against Asian Hate on Feb. 27, 2021. It was inspiring to see many gather for the community. And I felt a little at home walking around Foley Square with my camera and photographing New York activism at work. It was also great to (elbow) bump into old friends ( + ). Today’s rally reminds me that I may be in a more media adjacent gig these days, but I’ll always be a journalist. Oh yeah, I also got a photo of Andrew Yang, too!

Yesterday, I tried parkour photography at for the first time, and it was so much fun! challenged us to turn our continuous shutter off and really focus on timing, which was a fun challenge. After taking a break from concert photography this year, I’m glad I got to put some of my dusty skills to use.
